This day tour in Tibetan settlement is a unique opportunity to spend a day in a local Tibetan communities inside Pokhara Valley with a genuine Tibetan guide. Through this tour you can learn about their rich Tibetan culture such as Buddhism, medicine, arts and crafts, history, and their struggles as refugee in Nepal.

A day in this tibetan settlement will help you to know tibetan refugee lifestyle in Nepal even better. In the morning, after meeting your guide, you will drive to Tibetan settlement. There you can discover the arts and crafts of the Tibetan Plateau and learn how Tibetan people introduced and make Tibetan carpets in the settlements. You can also learn about the symbols and images that are so important in their daily life. Visit a Tibetan doctor and learn about basic knowledge of Tibetan medicine and it’s treatment. Have a first hand experience of a medical check up from a Tibetan doctor. We will then visit settlement photo gallery and learn how Tibetan settlements were established in the early 60’s. We will then visit Tibetan schools, kindergarten and learn about educational system in the Tibetan settlements. You can then enjoy simple Tibetan momos & thenthuk in a Tibetan restaurants inside the settlement in the afternoon.

On your way, you can visit a small noodle workshop and see how Tibetans make their favourite noodles. If you are interested then you can meet a Buddhist monk and learn about their monastic life and their daily studies and activities in the monastery. Visit the monastery and attend their group pooja in the evening (prayer chanting) with the monks and hear the melodious horns, drums, conch shell, trumpet, bell etc used during the prayer. Enjoy evening tea in a local family, where you will get a taste of Tibetan food, tsampa (Roasted barley flour), butter tea and Tibetan bread.
