Day 1 : Arrival Kathmandu
The flight into the Himalaya reveals breathtaking views of the great peaks MT Dorje Lakpa, MT Ganesha, MT Purbi chhyachu, MT Langtang, etc., (weather permitting) taking you right into the Himalayan Kingdom's scraping airstrip at Kathmandu. On arrival you will be greeted and transferred to Hotel, in the afternoon free for independent activities, Overnight at hotel.
Day 2 : In Kathmandu
Visit Swoyambhunath Stupa with its 2,500 year history. Later visit to Kathmandu Durbar Square, Hanuman Dhoka, the ancient royal residence, Kasthamandap, Mahadev & Parvati Temple, Kumari palace sacred for Buddhists and Hindus and bazaars.
In the afternoon, visit Patan Durbar Square, the old Newar City with the Golden Gate, the Temple of Taleju, Golden Temple and surrounding beautiful monument, overnight at hotel.
Day 3 : In Kathmandu
In the morning drive to Shankhu and visit Vajra Jogini, an ancient commercial town route to Lhasa (Tibet). The town established during Licchavi period, 4th century, can still see the signs of former prosperity in Sankhu, including ancient temples (Vajra Jogini being the most prominent) and wood carvings, later visit to Boudhanath with important Buddhist monasteries, in the evening tour of Pashupatinath, the most sacred Hindu temple on the banks of the river Bagamati, Overnight at hotel.
Day 4 : Visit to Nagarkot
Drive to Nagarkot, to explore village & view majestic Himalayan ranges, (if weather permits), later drive or short walk 2 hrs to Changu Narayan, the oldest temple of Nepal, later visit to Bhaktapur, the world heritage site, the most beautiful medieval city of the country. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 5 : Flight Kathmandu / Lhasa (3,650Mt)
An hour flight to Lhasa will enchant you with the spectacular breathtaking view of the Himalayan Ranges. Weather permitting you will see most of the highest mountains on earth including Mt. Everest. On arrival you will take a 1.5-hour drive to Lhasa along the banks of the Kyichu River, through western city Dongar you will have first sight of the Potala Palace from afar. Arrive and after check-in at hotel, you are advice to take full rest in order to acclimatize, or light walk around the hotel area. O/N Hotel.
Day 6 : In Lhasa: visit Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Market (3500m)
In the morning visit the Potala Palace, winter palace of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, It is a 13th storied complex monument rising to a height of above 117m which houses 10,000 shrines and over 200,000 images and about 1000 rooms. In the afternoon visit 7th century Jokhang Temple, at the heart of Lhasa is the most sacred temple of all Tibet and a Power Place in all Tibet. Queen Bhrikuti a Nepalese princess married to King Songtsen Gampo founded Jokhang Temple and in recognition of Queen Bhrikuti the main gate of the temple faces west towards Nepal. The most impressive structure of the Jokhang Temple is the many chapels surrounding the temple. Later you can walk and shop in the popular Barkhor Square (Bazaar) where all kind of Tibetan handicraft, Buddhist artifacts, carpets, paintings etc. are all on sale for your delight. O/N Hotel.
Day 7 : In Lhasa: visit Drepung & Sera Monastery (3500Mt)
This morning we will drive 8km northwest of Lhasa to visit Drepung Monastery. It was the residence of the Third, Fourth and the Fifth Dalai Lamas. This winter Palace was the resident of hundreds of monks from all the major Geluk monasteries for staffing individual Chapels. The 20,000 sq mt complex has survived unscathed even during the Cultural Revolution. In the afternoon visit Sera Monastery founded in 1419, 5km away from Lhasa,. It sits in the prettiest and most charming atmosphere at the base of Mount Purbuchok. Sera Monastery used to be an important center for learning where about 6,000 monks resided. The most intriguing feature here is the nine-meter gilded image; here one can also witness the practicing debate among the monks, who pitch their knowledge against each other. O/N Hotel.
Day 8 : In Lhasa: Norbulingka and Tibetan medicine center
鈥淣orbulingka鈥, means 'Treasure Park' in Tibetan, The garden covers an area of 360,000 square meters with 374 rooms inside the biggest man-made garden in Tibet Autonomous Region. Built in the 1740s by order of the 7th Dalai Lama, Later it was used as the Summer Palace for successive Lamas, where they solved the political problems and held festive celebrations.
The murals depicted on the palace show the kind, calm Sakyamuni and his eight contemplative disciples and tell the development of Tibet in comic strips. Later visit Tibetan medicine center, where one can see the traditional medicine practice in Tibet, O/N Hotel
Day 9 : Excursion to 鈥淒rak Yerpa鈥
Meditation Caves, (4000 Mt), is called Brag Yer-pa in Tibetan language; is about 18 km to the east of Lhasa, Driving straight along the east suburbs of Lhasa and ascending to the pass of Mt. Najin, we could have few minutes stop on the mountain pass to take photos of the mountain peaks with prayer flags, and the farmland below, later drive down along the mountain road to the small cross, we will see the Drak Yerpa, It locates in the spectacular limestone cliffs of the Yerpa Valley,
It consists of a monastery and a number of ancient meditation caves which were used to house about 300 monks in the history.
Among the many ascetics who have sojourned here are Guru Rinpoche and Atisha, who spent 12 years preaching in Tibet. In the middle of the 7th century, Songtsan Gampo and his team built Drak-Yerpa for his wife. Songstan Gampo (604-650) was the 33rd king of the Yarlung Dynasty also meditated; you could see the 1st caves are the Rigsum Gompo Cave and the Temjl Drubpuk, the cave where Atisha meditated. Look for the stone footprints of Yeshe Tsogyel in the former and the 5th Dalai Lama in the latter. you will find the yellow Jamkhang has an impressive 2-storey statue of Jampa flanked by Chana Dorje to the left and Namse and Tamdrin to the right. Other statues are of Atisha flanked by the 5th Dalai Lama and Tsongkhapa. The upper cave is the Drubthubpuk, recognizable by its black yak-hair curtain. Continuing east along the ridge a detour leads up to a chorten that offers fine views of the valley.. Overnight at hotel.
Day 10 : Flight: Lhasa/Kathmandu
Departure: at the arranged time, transfer to the airport for departure to Kathmandu, Overnight at hotel.
Day 11 : Departure
At the arranged time, transfer to the airport for final departure. End of our service.
