Package Overview

Bio Ken houses the largest collections of snakes in East Africa and is open to the public. It is a 30 year old research centre dealing with reptiles, especially snakes and snake bites. It is located less than 5 minutes drive from the hotels in Watamu, heading northbound on the main Watamu beach read.

Bio Ken offers a free ‘remove a snake’ service fro the people in Watamu and the surrounding area. Any snakes removed from a property is relocated into the wild and released under the guidance of the Saving Snakes initiative, or is taken to the farm if they are of special interest.

Bio Ken also milks snakes for medical research and for tee preparation of anti-venom. It stocks and provides anti venom to treat victims of snake bites with the help of the James Antivenom Trust (JAAT).

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Arrival

  0900hrs: Pick up from location/locations to be advised.
  0930hrs: Arrive at the Bioken Farm.
  0930hrs – 1100hrs: Tour of the farm
  1130hrs: :Safaris Driver /Tour guide staff will then drop you off at a location of your choice
