Chittagong
The Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) consist of three districts Rangamati, Khagrachari and
Bandarban. These districts are located in the south-east of the country, near the Myanmar and Indian border and make up 10 per cent of the total land area of the country but only 1 per cent of the country’s population. The estimated population in the CHT is 1.3 million, of which 90 per cent lives in the rural areas.
÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ to at least 11 different indigenous ethnic groups, this is a unique part of the country, both in terms of landscape and its people. Over the last 30 years, Bengali settlers from other parts of Bangladesh have been allocated land in the CHT districts and now represent approximately 50 per cent of the CHT population.
Rangamati
Rangamati is the Administrative Headquarter of Rangamati Hill District in the Chittagong Hill Tracts of Bangladesh. It's a travel destination of Bangladesh which is known as "Lake City".
From Chittagong a 77Â km road amidst green fields and winding hills leads to Rangamati; which is a wonderful repository of scenic splendours with flora and fauna of varied descriptions. The township is located on the western bank of the Kaptai lake. Rangamati is a favourite holiday destination because of its beautiful landscape, scenic beauty, lake, colourful tribes (Chakma, Marma etc), its flora and fauna, tribal museum, hanging bridge, homespun textile products, ivory jewellery and the tribal men and women who fashion them. For tourists, the attractions of Rangamati are numerous. Tribal life, fishing, speed boat cruising, hiking, bathing or merely enjoying nature as it is.
Suspension Bridge: Suspension Bridge(Jhulonto Bridge in Bengali)is the landmark icon of Rangamati. It's a popular tourist spot and a must go destination.
Kaptai Lake : Kaptai lake is a wonderful spot for boating and cruising. Parjatan and private tour operators offer a number of cruises by mechanical boats. One can go to various scenic spots in Shuvalong, Barkal, Longadu, Mainimukh and other areas by boat from Rangamati.
Tribal Museum : The only Tribal Cultural Museum in the Chittagong Hill Tracts region was established at Rangamati town in 1978 and run by the Tribal Cultural Institute. It preserves valuable objects and articles of different tribes depicting their socio-economic, cultural and historical tradition. These include typical tribal dresses, ornaments, arms and ammunitions, coins, statues made of wood, bronze and other metals, musical instruments, ivory products, handicrafts, paintings on tribal life etc.

Bandarban Town:
Bandarban is a district within the Chittagong Division and a part of Chittagong Hill Tracts. Ninety two kilometer from Chittagong by metal led road, Bandarban is the district headquarters of the Bandarban Hill District. This district is located in South-Eastern Bangladesh
Bandarban town is a unique town in Bangladesh with a wonderful view of hills. Administration Bandarban district was established in 1983. The area of Bandarban town is 51.80 sq km. It has a population of 31806. Among them , male 60.22%, female 39.78%. It consists of 10 wards and 62 mahallas. Literacy rate among the town people is 56.8%. There are 2 dakbungalows, 1 cinema hall, 2 public libraries, 1 community centre and 3 playgrounds in the town. There is a Tribal Cultural Institute here, which features a library and a museum. The town also features Bandarban Town Hospital (offering the best medical service in the district), the District Public Library, Bandarban Government College, the District Stadium etc.
There are more than fifteen ethnic minorities living in Bandarban besides the Bengalis.
The three highest peak of Bangladesh – Tahjindong (1280 meters, also known as bijoy), Mowdok Mual (1052 m), and Keokradong (1230 m) are located in Bandarban district. The newly reported highest peak of Bangladesh – Saka Haphong (3488 ft) is also here.
