This hike that takes you to the top of Table Mountain must surely be routed amongst the most scenic and exciting routes of them all.

Experience isn鈥檛 really necessary but one needs to be fairly energetic as you will encounter some scrambling which tends to be quite easy on the body. Of course not being scared of heights is one of the main criteria of any hike.

The India Venster trail starts approximately 50 meters from the right hand side of the cable car鈥檚 departure area which is situated along Table Mountain Road. This hike is so named because we will be passing along the edge of a vegetation triangle which grows on the side of Table Mountain. If you use your imagination then this green triangle somewhat resembles the continent we call India 鈥淰enster鈥� meaning 鈥渨indow鈥� in the Afrikaans language and en route you will come upon a rock that balances precariously atop the other rocks. Don鈥檛 worry though as it has been doing it鈥檚 balancing act for a very, very long time. This 鈥渞ocky window鈥� will give you an imposing and majestic view of the mountain face.

The initial two, visible, climbing projections can be seen up and left of the cable car station. North-East or 鈥淎frica Ledge鈥� is the support for the upper station of the cable way and overlooks Cape Town City while to the west or 鈥淔ountain Ledge鈥� will give you captivating views of Cape Town鈥檚 Atlantic Seaboard. Watching an African sunset is a sublime example to enjoy life a little slower.Descent cableway ticket excluded
