Tips
Morning departure at 8 o鈥檆lock from your hotel or riad in Marrakesh to cross the High Atlas Mountains. After the Tichka pass, you leave the main road and take a side road to the Telouet Kasbah, which belonged to the Lords of the Atlas, the Glaoui family, and which now stands in ruins after the last Pasha fled the country following the departure of the French. From there you continue for lunch at Ait Ben Haddou along the newly asphalted connecting road. This is the most famous Kasbah in Morocco and is a UNESCO World Heritage site, which we visit after lunch, then we carry on the journey to ouarzazate to spend the night in a hotel.
After breakfast, we will check-out, then visit the cinematographic museum, then leave Ouarzazate towards one of the wonders of the southern Morocco, they call it Route of the Thousand Kasbahs, where cross 27 km off-road to visit Berber nomads in their caves and partake in a glass of tea with them. After which, we will go through the Valley of the Roses. Drive along the valley to the spectacular gorges of Dades where we will have to spend overnight in the hotel there.
After breakfast, there is time to walk by the river before continuing to Todra to the very different gorges there. Lunch will either be here in the gorges or later at the way to the Erg Chebbi dunes. We drive there via the Ziz Valley, and the towns of tinjdad and Erfoud. In the afternoon you can take a two-hour camel ride in the Sahara. The sunset from the top of the dunes is spectacular (250m) and back to our camp under the Berber tent bivouac.
You will wake up early to watch sunrise at the dunes before riding back to the auberge on the camels where you will have breakfast and shower. We will leave then for the province of Errachidia via Erfoud to Ziz valley and gorges. Lunch will be at Midelt. Through hills covered in forests of cork oak and giant cedar, our journey continues towards Ifrane and the Middle Atlas before ending off at Fes.
