Day 1 : Arrival
picking up the tourists from the airport in Bucharest;
check-in at the hotel; brief evening stroll in the old center of the capital city;
accommodation and dinner.
Day 2 : Bucharest - Pietroasele - Focsani (200 km)
breakfast; visit the Parliament Palace, the second largest administrative building in the world as to its surface, after The Pentagon;
travel to the Buzau area; we will visit a local wine producer and we will taste there Romanian wines, whereupon we will have lunch; if weather allows we can also will visit the muddy volcanoes;
The Muddy Volcanoes natural reserve lies at an altitude of 322 meters, is sprawling over a surface of 22 hectares and is a geological and botanical attraction spot in consequence of the two muddy volcanoes craters on the plateau and two species of halophiles plants (plants growing in a salty environment)
we are heading to the Focsani area to have dinner there and taste local wines particular to the region;
accommodation in the Focsani area.
Day 3 : Cotnari - Gura Humorului - (400 km)
travel to Neamt area to visit a traditional Romanian jam producer, and resume later on our journey to Cotnari, one of the most important wine producers from Romania; here we will taste wines and serve lunch.
The Cotnari wines have outstanding qualities acquired by confining the daily average wine output per hectare to but 70-80%. In the wine collection set up in accordance with scientific criteria there are preserved the best assortments, beginning with the year 1957.
travel to Gura Humorului region, for accommodaton and dinner.
Day 4 : Voronet - Moldovita - Sucevita - Marginea (150 km)
we will visit a small scale black ceramic workshop, and then we will take a tour of the monasteries in the region, renowned for their outer wall paintings. En route we will have lunch at a local producer of Bucovina traditional food products.
The Voronet Monastery (erected in 1488), also known as 鈥淭he Sistine Chapel of the East鈥 is a medieval monastic compound built in the Voronet village that has been entered the list of the historical monuments in the Suceava County since 2004.
Moldovita: is one of the old monastic settlements with a significant and glorious historical past, for centuries on end having stand guard to the Northern boundary of Moldova. The painted church of the monastery has been entered the list of UNESCO world cultural heritage.
Sucevita: the paintings of the church dates back from 1601, which makes Sucevi?a one of the last monasteries to be decorated in the famous Moldavian style of exterior paintings
in the evening we will attend an artistic program and a traditional Bucovina dinner in Gura Humorului area.
Day 5 : Gura Humorului - Maramures (270 km)
travel to Maramures, en route we will make a stopover in Ciocanesti, a renowned village museum due to its painted houses and the colored eggs festival held here every year; we will further visit a pottery workshop, the wooden church from Ieud and the B芒rsana Monastery, and later on we will serve a traditional lunch with local food products in the countryside;
after lunch we will visit the Merry Cemetery (which allures visitors through its peculiarity, crosses covered in colored drawings or funny poems depicting moments in the life or the trade of the buried person) and the wooden church from Sap芒nta, which not long ago was still holding the European record of the church with the tallest wooden tower;
traditional Maramures dinner with local food products;
accommodation in Sighetul Marmatiei area.
Day 6 : Maramures - Salina Turda - Alba (360 km)
we are heading for Cluj county to visit there a workshop making Romanian traditional popular costumes, and later on we will serve lunch;
we vist then the salt mine from Turda, a famous destination for the tourists across Europe. The salt mine dates back to the XVII century, and in the present it is a genuine salt mining history museum what with the outstanding preservation state of the mining works and the machines employed to convey the salt;
then we travel to Aiud Alba area for accommodation and dinner.
Day 7 : Alba Iulia - Sibiu - Marginimea Sibiului (150 km)
we visit Alba Iulia, the first capital city of the three Romanian Provinces (the fortress had been built Vauban style with 7 star shaped bulwarks between 1716 1735 after the blueprints of the Italian architect Giovanni Morando Visconti), whereupon we resume our journey to Marginimea Sibiului to visit an ecological farm where we will be served a lunch with food products particular to thar region.
we are heading for Sibiu (the European cultural capital in 2007) where we will visit the historical centre, one of the best preserved historical sites in Romania. Many of the walls and fortifications are being kept in a proper maintained condition. The historical centre is about to become part of the UNESCO heritage (the Fib Bridge, the Stairs Passage, the Lower City, towers, etc);
traditional dinner and accommodation.
Day 8 : Sibiu - T芒rnaveni - Sighisoara - Miercurea Ciuc - Brasov (370 km)
travel to T芒rnaveni area to taste an assortment of wines from the T芒rnava Valley, whereupon we are heading for Sighisoara to visit the medieval fortress (locality established by the German settlers and nowadays the only medieval fortress still inhabited in the entire Europe. Here there had once lived Vlad II Dracul, waiting for the right moment to ascend to the throne of the Romanian Country. It looks like that time (1431) his son Vlad the Impaler, the later infamous Dracula, had been born); we resume our travel to the Szekely region to served a traditional lunch; we then travel to Brasov area for dinner and accommodation
Day 9 : Brasov - Bran - Sinaia - Brasov (160 km)
visit the historical centre of Brasov: the Assembly Square, the Black Church (the most representative monument of gothic architecture in Romania, it was named Black Church after having been partially wrecked by a great fire in 1689); further we continue our itinerary to the R芒snov Fortress (one of the best preserved peasant fortresses from Transylvania, built in the XIII and XIV centuries as protection against the Tartar attacks) and the Bran Castle well known all around the world due to its having been built on a crag, its good preservation, the stunning scenery and the legend of the Count Dracula from Transylvania. Bran Castle has been entered on the list of the most beautiful ten medieval castles in the world.
we will visit a local cheese maker and a farm where we will serve a lunch with traditional foodstuffs;
festive dinner with artistic program in the region;
accommodation in the Brasov area.
Day 10 : Brasov - Bucharest (170 km)
travel to Sinaia to visit the Peles Castle (the summer residence of the Romanian kings, was erected on the demand of king Carol I of Romania (1866 1914), one of the most important monuments of this kind in Europe through its historical and artistic value);
we resume our journey to Urlati to taste there a variety of wines and serve the lunch, whereupon we will make our way to Bucharest for dinner and accommodation;
Day 11 : Departure
within the available time we will visit the Village Museum (sprawling over an area in excess of 10 hectares and comprising 272 Romanian peasant houses, it is among the first open air ethnographical museums from Romania);
transfer to the airport.
