ABOUT THE Hampta Pass Trek
The Hampta Pass is undoubtedly one of the most spellbinding crossover treks in the Indian part of the Himalayan ranges. This trek starts from the Thick Pine forests of Kullu valley , gradually proceeding to the barren wilderness of Lahaul and Spiti Valley. What makes this trek different from the rest is the fact that a trekker can experience this transcendence of terrain within a span of 5 days. The vistas around you change dramatically once you close in on 14000 feet, nearby the pass crossing. You will also have the opportunity to visit the calm and magnificent Chandrataal lake , located at an altitude of 14000ft.Extra meals which are not mentioned in inclusions.

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Arrive at Manali - Drive to Jobri - Trek to Chika Campsite ( 10100 ft )

  We meet at Manali Rambaug circle and proceed towards the starting point of the trek, Jobri, in SUVs. This village is reached after driving for 1.5 hours , passing through 42 hairpin bends. An hour into the trek, you cross a forest of pine and maple trees, after which there is a beautiful green meadow. This path runs for another hour along the trail to a spot called Chika which is the site of our first camp. This trail is relatively easy as you simply have to follow the Rani river upstream.
• Day 2 : Trek from Chika to Balu Ka Gera( 11900 ft )

  After breakfast, The trek from Chika starts, and till Jwara , it can be characterised by the vast number of boulders en route. The waterfall that can be seen at the upper reaches of the mountain at the start of this trek will be to your left nearby Jwara, at which point you will have to cross the icy cold river. After having packed lunch at Jwara, you will continue through the lush green meadows onwards to Balu Ka Gera. Gradually along this route, the treelike will start to disappear as you approach Balu ka gherao. The trail has a moderate incline and you will be following the Rani river upstream. Near the base of the Bandarpunch peak, our camp will be pitched and from here , you can have a good view of the mountains leading to the Pass crossing.
• Day 3 : Balu Ka Gera to Shea Ghoru ( 12250 ft ) via Hampta Pass ( 14035 ft )

  Today’s Trek will start early in the morning as we have to walk for around 9 hours to reach Shea Ghoru campsite, crossing Hampta pass on the way at approximately 14035 ft. The ascent to Hampta starts after and hour of gentle walk followed by half an hour of gruelling uphill climb. This ascent to Hampta pass is quite steep and will take approximately 30 mins to reach the pass. Once there, enjoy the view from the top along with packed lunch. After a well deserved break, you will descend onto the Shea Ghoru campsite , which is about 2 hours away from the pass. The majestic campsite at Shea Ghoru is arguably the best campsite throughout the whole trek as it is a green meadow surrounded by mighty and tall snow clad mountains.
• Day 4 : Shea Ghoru ( 12250 ft ) to Chattru ( 10898 ft ) - Drive to Chandrataal Lake ( 14100 ft ) and return

  After breakfast, we start the trek to Chattru , which is a gradual descent for about 4.5 hours and on the way , the icy cold waters of Shea Ghoru Nala need to be crossed to the other side of the valley. The road going to Spiti can be seen at a distance along the way and would be a different experience after some days away from civilisation. Once at Chattru, without further ado, you will drive onto Chandrataal lake in SUVs , covering a distance of 70 km in around 3 hours. The calming sight of this lake is enough to dissipate all the hardships of the past few days. Here you can spend your time being at peace in the presence of this serene lake. Afterwards, you will return to Chattru by nightfall.

• Day 5 : Chattru ( 10898 ft ) to Manali ( 6000 ft ) via Rohtang Pass

  After a quick breakfast, you will drive back to Manali via Rohtang Pass. This drive from Chattru can take around 5 hours depending on the traffic conditions near Rohtang Pass. Once safely back at Manali, Carry on with your journey along with fond memories of your adventures throughout the Hampta Pass Trek.
