Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 :

  We specialise in small group tours of up to 8 people (or 10 hobbits) for a flexible and friendly tour experience.
  
  AUCKLAND TO WAITOMO CAVES
  Be ready for a bright and early 7am pick up from your accommodation to start our action packed first day. We head south over the Bombay hills, following the Waikato river before heading west towards the rocky outcrops which signal the subterranean features for which the Waitomo district is famous.
  
  Along the way we stop for refreshments at one of the small country towns, and you are welcome to indulge in our home-baked on-board morning tea picnic (included), or select from the bakery selection of one of the local cafes (not included).
  
  Your Waitomo Caves experience will see you drifting on an underground river through a magical twinkling glow worm grotto. From time to time due to seasonal events the Waitomo caves tour may not operate. In this event we will be upgraded to the alternative Ruakuri Caves tour.
  
  HOBBITON
  Returning north east, our journey takes us through rolling countryside on our way to the idyllic location of the Hobbiton movie set. We have time for a quick bite to eat at the Shire cafe.
  
  Your Hobbiton tour departing from Shires rest is approximately 2 hours in duration and includes a fully guided tour and a visit to the Green Dragon Inn. We have time afterwards for a spot of shopping at the Shires rest.
  
  ROTORUA
  But wait there's more! Our road trip heads this time towards the steaming, bubbling thermal and cultural wonderland of Rotorua where we will spend the night in the heart of town, also affectionately known as RotoVegas.
  
  We recommend an evening of culture and traditional Maori food and entertainment at a Maori village just outside of Rotorua, however perhaps you would prefer to soak in the natural mineral waters of the Polynesian spa or explore the city region which is located on the edge of Lake Rotorua and has an extensive thermally active inner city park bubbling with thermal curiosities. Rotorua also has a fantastic selection of restaurants and cafes including a busy restaurant strip in the centre of town.

  • Hotspots Location
• Day 2 :

  After a leisurely brekky our day begins at a sprawling thermal park South of Rotorua which is home to some of the most spectacular colourful natural thermal features of the region. We may have the opportunity to take a dip in a natural hot water river before we return to RotoVegas.
  
  For those who didn't experience the Maori village and show the previous evening, there is an opportunity to take a tour of another Maori village where we can also enjoy a meal prepared by the traditional underground cooking method - known as a Hangi.
  
  All going to plan we have afternoon options including a sheep dog show at the agrodome, a look around one of Rotorua's wildlife sanctuaries or a trip up the Gondola to admire the view of lake Rotorua and surrounds, perhaps returning to the bottom of the hill via the luge.
  
  Our return journey takes us through the sleepy rolling rural hills of the Waikato region. Our action packed overnight adventure concludes at your Auckland city accommodation about 7pm.
