Day wise Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Arrival Chennai

    On arrival pick-up and transfer to hotel. Overnight at hotel.
    Chennai: The diverse population of Chennai (Madras) is reflected in its rich cultural scene. You鈥檒l find serious theatre as well as the glitz and glamour of Kollywood. Chennai is also an important center for the Bharatanatyam, a local form of classical dance. Visit in January, for the festival of Pongal, or in April, when Chennai celebrates its new year

  • Day 2 : Chennai

    After breakfast at hotel full day sightseeing of Chennai. Overnight at hotel

  • Day 3 : Chennai - Mahabalipuram Drive 65km/2hrs

    After breakfast at hotel drive to Kanchipuram sightseeing and drive to Mahabalipuram, transfer to hotel. Overnight at hotel.
    Kanchipuram: Kanchipuram, the Golden City is situated about 70 kms. from Chennai in Tamil Nadu. Kanchipuram is also known as the religious capital of South India. Kanchipuram was the capital of the Pallavas. Kanchipuram is one of the seven most sacred pilgrimage cities of the Hindus. The other pilgrimage cities are Varanasi, Mathura, Ujjain, Haridwar, Dwaraka and Ayodhya. The special feature of Kanchipuram is that the people here can offer worship to both Lord Shiva and Vishnu. Kanchipuram is also known as the city of thousand temples. Some of the magnificent temples in Kanchipuram of unique architectural beauty bears testimony to its glorious Dravidian heritage. Kanchipuram is also known all over the world for the 鈥淜anjeevaram鈥 silk saris, one of the finest silk saris in the country. The climate of Kanchipuram is tropical with an almost uniform temperature throughout the year.
    Mahabalipuram: Mamallapuram is a historical retreat set amidst natural beauty, about 58 km south of Chennai. Mamallapuram is also known as Mahabalipuram, the city of Bali. This ancient city is located on the shores of the Bay of Bengal. It covers an area of 8 square kms situated at the sea level. It is an international historic and heritage center as it is the place where the art and architecture first originated. This ancient place was the major seaport of the Pallava dynasty and was the second capital of the Pallava kings of Kanchipuram. Mamallapuram is globally known for the famous shore temples. It later became an architectural center owing to its beautiful
    coastal area studded with small hills ideal for the creation of cave temples, stone carvings, etc. The Pallavas created many marvellous monuments like the sculptural panels, caves, monolithic rathas and temples. These monuments carved out of solid rock, though ravaged by the sea and wind, still bear testimony to the magnificent heritage of Dravidian architecture. Besides the monuments, Mamallapuram is also known for the beautiful beaches and fine resorts. These monumental splendours and sunny beach resorts attract tourists from all over the world. The climate in Mamallapuram is tropical. In summers it is around 36.6 degree Celsius and in winters it is around 19.8 degree Celsius. Tamil and English are widely spoken languages in Mamallapuram. The famous dance festival is celebrated in the month of December in Mamallapuram.

  • Day 4 : Mahabalipuram - Pondicherry Drive 105km/4hrs

    After breakfast at hotel Mahabalipuram, sightseeing then drive to Pondicherry, transfer to hotel. Overnight at hotel.
    Pondicherry: Pondicherry鈥 is the French interpretation of the original name 鈥淧uducheri鈥. The word 鈥淧uducheri鈥 means the new settlement. Many pilgrims have shared the town鈥檚 hospitality on their way to the temple town of Rameshwaram, thus enriching its culture. Pondicherry is the tiny union territory which covers an area of 494 square kms. Situated on the south coast of Madras, Pondicherry was a French town from 1674 to 1954 when it became part of India. Earlier Pondicherry was the major French trading post but later it became part of the Anglo-French hostilities. Today, it is a provincial town with a distinctive French character. The new city of Auroville, built by the followers of the 20th century saint Sri Aurobindo is located nearby Pondicherry. Tamil and French are the common languages which are spoken in Pondicherry.

  • Day 5 : Pondicherry - Thanjavur Drive 174km/4hrs

    After breakfast sightseeing of Pondicherry then drive to Thanjavur, transfer to hotel. Overnight at hotel.
    Thanjavur: Tanjore, now known as Thanjavur is situated only about 50 km. from Trichy. Thanjavur derives its name from Tanjan-an asura, a giant who devastated the neighbourhood and was killed by Sri Anandavalli Amman and Vishnu. Before his death, he requested the city to be named after him and thus the city was named as Tanjore. Thanjavur is also known as the granary of the South India and lies in the delta region of the famous Kaveri river and criss-crossed by lengthy network of irrigation canals. Thanjavur is also known as the "Rice bowl of Tamil Nadu" and famous for the Brihadeshwara Temple. This temple was constructed more than thousand years ago by the King Raja Raja and an architect's marvel. This temple and the other temples in Thanjavur are known all over the world. It is a flourishing centre of bronze sculpture and painting. The Tamil University has been set up recently in Thanjavur and devoted to the growth of Tamil literature and language. The best season to visit Thanjavur is throughout the year. Tamil, English and Marathi are the main languages which are spoken in Thanjavur.

  • Day 6 : Thanjavur - Trichi Drive 70km/2hrs

    After breakfast at hotel sightseeing of Thanjavur then drive to Trichi, transfer to hotel. Overnight at hotel.
    Trichi: Tiruchirapalli, also known as Trichy, Tiruchy and Thiruchi, is only about 53 kms from Thanjavur. Trichy is situated on the banks of the Kaveri river and the fourth largest city in Tamil Nadu. Trichy has always been a seat of power over the centuries. It was one of the main centers around which the wars of the Carnatic were fought in the 18th century by the British and the French. Today, this city is a thriving commercial centre in Tamil Nadu. This city has given great Tamil scholars whose contributions to the Tamil literature have been very significant. This ancient city is famous for its architectural monuments and culture. The best time to visit Trichy is throughout the year, except in summers, when the days are very hot. Tamil and English are the main languages which are commonly spoken in Trichy.

  • Day 7 : Trichi - Madurai Drive 145km/3hrs

    After breakfast at hotel sightseeing of Trichi then drive to Madurai, transfer to hotel. Overnight at hotel.
    Madurai: Madurai, the city of Nectar is located in the south of Tamil Nadu. It is the second largest city in the state of Tamil Nadu. It is also considered as an important cultural and commercial centre of Tamil Nadu. Madurai is located on the banks of the river Vaigai. Madurai is bounded on the north by the district of Dindigul, on the east by Sivagangai, on the west by Theni and south by Virudhunagar. Madurai is situated at an altitute of 100.58 meters above the sea level and covers an area of 3741.73 square km. Madurai city has 3 hills as its city boundary mainly, Yanaimalai, Nagamalai, Pasumalai named after Elephant, Snake and Cow respectively. The city has been called the "Athens of the East" because of its great architecture and meticulous planning, comparable to that of the Greek capital.

  • Day 8 : Madurai - Periyar Drive 139km/3hrs

    After breakfast at hotel sightseeing of Madurai, then drive to Thekkady ( Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary ), transfer to hotel. Overnight at hotel.
    Periyar: If you want guaranteed wildlife sightings at Periyar you have to do one or preferably both of the following:
    Go on the early morning first boat ride of the day and book the Upper Deck seats. The boat leaves at 6am or 7am depending on season, and you will most definitely see elephants at the edge of the lake, wild boar, deer and an assortment of birds. Anything else is possible and your luck! The Upper Deck is very important for a better view. The boat can get crowded in season so book in advance if possible.Go on a jungle walk accompanied [compulsorily] by a tribal guide from the information centre near the boat jetty. The rates are extremely reasonable and if you pay the full charges you can go for as long or as short a walk as you want. Chances of elephant sighting are high. Guaranteed sightings of giant malabar squirrels, assorted deer, lion tailed macaque, black langurs, huge butterflies like the troides minos - southern birdwing which is the largest in India, helens, mormons etc and a wide variety of birds. Anything else and that is your luck.
    Periyar is always pleasant even at the height of summer due to the 1600m altitude. Just before the monsoons is the best time to spot wildlife. Enjoy your trip

  • Day 9 : Periyar

    Breakfast at hotel. Then proceed for full day visit Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary with elephant ride, boat ride. Overnight at hotel

  • Day 10 : Periyar - Alleppey Drive 125km/3hrs

    After breakfast at hotel drive to Alleppey here embark the vehicle to house boat. Sightseeing by boat . Overnight House boat.
    Alleppey: Referred to as the Venice of the East, Alappuzha has always enjoyed an important place in the maritime history of Kerala. Today, it is famous for its boat races, backwater holidays, beaches, marine products and coir industry. Alappuzha beach is a popular picnic spot. The pier, which extends into the sea here, is over 137 years old. Entertainment facilities at the Vijaya Beach Park add to the attraction of the beach. There is also an old lighthouse nearby which is greatly fascinating to visitors.

  • Day 11 : Alleppey - Kochi Drive 45km/1hrs

    In the morning you will be at Kumarakom. After breakfast embark from the House Boat and take same vehicle waiting at here drive to Kochi, sightseeing then transfer to hotel. Overnight at hotel.
    Kochi : Look for spicy dishes flavoured with tamarind and coconut in Kochi, and don鈥檛 be surprised if your dinner is served up on a banana leaf. The region is a major banana-growing area, and traditional Kochi cuisine employs the fruit in many dishes, both sweet and savoury. Coconut water provides a refreshing and sweet contrast to the piquant food

  • Day 12 : Kochi - Calicut - Wayanad Drive 276km/4hrs

    After breakfast at hotel drive to Wayanad via Calicut , On arrival Wayanad ( Kalpetta) transfer to hotel. Overnight at hotel.
    Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary: Area: 2132 sq. km
    Altitude: 700 - 2100 m above sea level
    A bio-diverse region spread across 2,132 square kilometers on the lofty Western Ghats, Wayanad is one of the few districts in Kerala that has been able to retain its pristine nature. Hidden away in the hills of this land are some of the oldest tribes, as yet untouched by civilization. And the very first prehistoric engravings in Kerala discovered in the foothills of Edakkal and around Ambukuthimala bear testimony to a pre-historic culture dating back to the Mesolithic Age. Strikingly scenic, it is known for its sub-tropical savannahs, picturesque hill stations, sprawling spice plantations, luxuriant forests and rich cultural traditions. A holistic confluence of wilderness, history and culture, Wayanad is located on the southern tip of the magnificent Deccan plateau.

  • Day 13 : Wayanad - Madumalai National Park Drive 45km/2hrs

    AM and PM Jeep ride to explore the wildlife sanctuary. Evening drive to Madumalai National Park., transfer to hotel. Overnight at hotel.

  • Day 14 : Madumalai Np - Ooty Drive 105km/3hrs

    AM jeep ride at Madumalai NP to explore the National Park. PM after lunch at hotel drive to Ooty. On arrival transfer to hotel Overnight at hotel.
    Ooty: Ooty also known as Udhagamandalam is the "Queen of hill stations" and the capital of Nilgiris district. It is one of the most popular tourist resorts in India. Nilgiris means "Blue Mountains". It is a land of picturesque picnic spots. Used to be popular summer and weekend getaway for the Britishers during the colonial days. It is situated at an altitude of 2,240 meters above sea level. An added attraction for the tourists to Udagamandalam is the mountain train journey on a ratchet and pinion track which commences from Kallar, near Mettupalayam and wends its way through many hair-raising curves and fearful tunnels and chugs along beside deep ravines full of verdant vegetation, gurgling streams and tea gardens.

  • Day 15 : Ooty - Mysore Drive 145km/4hrs

    AM sightseeing of Ooty PM check-out at hotel and drive to Mysore, On arrival Mysore transfer to hotel. Overnight at hotel.
    Mysore: Mysore is located 140 Kms from the state capital Bangalore-- Mysore is the erstwhile capital of Wodeyars, the rulers of Mysore state. The Wodeyar family ruled Mysore since 14th century except for a short period of 40 years when Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan were the rulers. Mysore has never failed to mesmerise the tourists with its quaint charm, rich heritage, magnificent palaces, beautifully laid-out gardens, imposing buildings, broad shady avenues and sacred temples. The charm leaves no one untouched.

  • Day 16 : Mysore - Bangalore Drive 145km/3hrs

    After breakfast at hotel AM sightseeing of Mysore continue drive to Bangalore, transfer to hotel. Overnight at hotel.
    Bangalore :Known as both the "Garden City" and "The Silicon Valley of India," Bangalore (officially "Bengaluru") is a techie鈥檚 paradise, boasting the highest concentration of IT companies in the country. When you鈥檙e done geeking out, there are plenty of gardens, museums, natural features, palaces and temples to fill your dance card. Visit Vidhana Soudha, Cubbon Park and the Ulsoor Lake of Bangalore, well known for its beautiful locales and boating facilities. Bangalore is also a major centre of Indian classical music and dance, and of vivid, cutting-edge nightlife.

  • Day 17 : Bangalore

    After breakfast at hotel full day sightseeing of Bangalore. Overnight at hotel.

  • Day 18 : Departure
