Day 1 : GUWAHATI AIRPORT – SHILLONG (130 KMS / 3 ½ hrs drive)
Arrive Guwahati airport and drive to Shillong. En route take a break at Umiam Lake (Barapani Lake).
UMIAM LAKE - a manmade lake which is actually a dam for Umiam river. It is spread over 220 square km. Activities like kayaking, water cycling, scooting and boating are available.
Check-in hotel and after refreshment if time permits visit Cathedral of Marry. Overnight in Shillong.
Day 2 : SHILLONG – CHERRAPUNJEE – SHILLONG (60 KMs / 2 hrs-One way)
On this day start our journey little early after breakfast for an excursion to Cherrapunjee. Enroute stop at the Duwan Sing Syiem view point. Enjoy chilled or rainy weather with a hot cup of coffee or with plate of Maggi.
In Cherrapunjee we will take you to visit Seven Sisters Falls and Nohkalikai Falls. Later take a walk inside the Mawsmai Cave.
Have lunch at Cherrapunjee and drive back to Shillong. Evening walk around Police Bazar (Most of the shops remain closed on Sunday).Overnight stay at Shillong.
Day 3 : SHILLONG - MWALLYNONG – DAWKI - SHILLONG
After breakfast drive to Mawlynnong, the cleanest village in Asia, also known as ‘God’s own Garden’. With over 80 households, the village gives the ambiance of walking in a well maintained park ! Climb the 80 ft Sky Walk at Mawlynnong village for a bird’s eye view of the Village, the plantations and faraway plains of Bangladesh. You will also be acquainted with the Khasi lifestyle, their culture and economy.
A trek to the nearby Rewai Village is another interesting activity. Walk down a flight of almost 100 steps to witness nature’s wonder, living-root bridge. The bridges are tangles of massive thick roots, which the local people intertwined to form a bridge that can hold several people at a time. The root bridges, may be up to over a hundred feet long, take ten to fifteen years to become fully functional, but they become very strong in the process. The bridges live and keep growing and strengthen over time. The useful lifespan of the bridges, is thought to be 500–600 years.
Later drive to Dawki, a village of the Jaintia community whose prime occupation of fishing. Be mesmerized by the beauty of the Umngot river, the venue of the annual boat race held during March - April at Umsyiem. The Umngot itself is a prime fishing spot for fishermen of the villages. The river is also famous for its crystal clear water, so clear that when seen from a distance, it appears as if the boat is floating in mid-air! The Umngot River is the natural boundary between RiPnar or Jaintia Hills with HimaKhyrim of Khasi hills over which is a single span suspension bridge was constructed. This is the gateway to Bangladesh where major export and import transactions take place. Enjoy an amazing country boat river ride. Drive up to the Bangladesh border.
Later proceed to Shillong for overnight stay.
Note: It is advisable to carry packed lunch to Mawlynnong.
Day 4 : SHILLONG - KAZIRANGA (290 KMS / 6 ½ hrs drive)
After breakfast drive to Kaziranga. Evening enjoy a cultural dance show of Assam. Overnight at Kaziranga.
In Kaziranga to enjoy cultural show you have options, as some local youth organized Cultural show in Kohora in auditorium or open field and also you can go to Orchid And Biodiversity Park which is approx. 3 Kms far from Kohora(Main Market area). They usually organize 3 to 5 types of cultural dance along with famous Bihu dance. We suggest you not to MISS THE PROGRAM.
Day 5 : IN KAZIRANGA
Kaziranga National Park has two thirds of the world's population of endangered Indian one-horned rhinoceros. Kaziranga National Park is also known for the residence of the BIG FIVE animals i.e. Great Indian One horned Rhinoceros, Indian Elephant, Royal Bengal Tiger, Eastern Swamp Deer and Wild Water Buffalo.
Kaziranga National Park is also a paradise for bird lovers as almost 478 species of birds are spotted here.
Early morning go foran Elephant ride (5.30 to 6.30/ 6.30 to 7.30).
After the ride return to hotel for breakfast. After breakfast, you will be taken to the Central Range / Western /range for one round of Jeep Safari. Afternoon visit Local Village & Tea Garden (Outer View) and to Orchid And Biodiversity Park. Overnight at Kaziranga.
Day 6 : KAZIRANGA - GUWAHATI
After breakfast drive back to Guwahati. In Guwahati visit Kamakhya temple, Assam State Museum (Close on Monday). Evening go for cruise at river Brahmaputra (On direct payment basis). Overnight at Guwahati.
NOTE: River cruise depends on availability and water level.
Day 7 : GUWAHATI AIRPORT DEPARTURE
After breakfast transfer to Guwahati airport.
