At an elevation of 1,200 metres above sea level, Punakha is Bhutan鈥檚 administrative capital. The Punakha Dzong is widely known to be the most beautiful Dzong in the whole country. The region is famous for farming both white and red rice and it makes for a beautiful sight along the banks of the Pho and Mo Chu, two of Bhutan鈥檚 most famous rivers.
Paro is home to one of the most beautiful valleys, Paro Valley, in Bhuta. It is also site of the country鈥檚 only international airport. The main street in Paro is very traditional and filled with little shops, businesses and restaurants.
10 kilometres outside of the town is the famous Taktshang (Tiger鈥檚 Nest) Monestary. It lies on the face of a sheer 1000 metre cliff, and legend has it that the father of Bhutanese Bhuddhism, Guru Rinpoche, landed there on the back of a tigress.
Thimphu is the capital, largest city, and political and economic centre of Bhutan, and is located in the western central part of the country. Most of Bhutan鈥檚 important political buildings are located in Thimphu and it is also home to the King鈥檚 official residence, the Dechencholing Palace.
Meet & Greet on arrival at NJP Railway Station / IXB Airport and transfer to Phuentsholing - The Gateway of Bhutan by Road from India. It is a thriving commercial center on the northern edge of the Indian Plains. On arrival check in at the hotel.
After breakfast complete the immigration formalities and transfer to Thimphu (7,710 ft.) the capital city of Bhutan. On arrival check in at the hotel. In the evening, visit the Tashichho Dzong (Fortress of the Glorious Religion).
After breakfast visit Kuensel Phodrang (Buddha Statue) a place for refreshing with a huge statue of Buddha on the top of the Kuensel Phodrang, National Memorial Chorten (Monument) & Folk Heritage Museum. Afternoon visit Sangaygang View Point, Changangkha Monastery, Taking Preserve Centre, The talking national animal of Bhutan can be seen here Tashichho Dzong (Fortress of the Glorious Religion).
After breakfast drive to Punakha / Wangdue, on the way Stop at Dochu-La-Pass (3150 mts.) to view the higher Himalayas. Arrival at Punakha check in at hotel. After noon visit Punakha Dzong - built in 1637 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. For many years until the time of the second king, it served as the seat of the Government. The Dzong was named Druk Pungthang Dechen Phodrang (Palace of Great Happiness). Punakha is still the winter residence of Je-Khenpo and King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck convened the first National Assembly here in 1952. After that take a short excursion trip to visit the Chhimi Lhakhang - The Temple, also known as 鈥淭he Temple of Fertility鈥 was built by Lama Drukpa Kuenley, 鈥淭he Devine Mad Man鈥. Evening free for leisure.
After breakfast, start for full day excursion trip to Gangtey (9,840 ft.). Gangtey is the home of Black Necked Crane which migrates from the arid plains of Tibet in the north. It is a beautiful valley of Bhutan. You can also visit Gangtey Gompha. Evening return back.
After breakfast drive to Paro (7,483 ft.). On the way stop at Lamperi to visit Royal Botanical Park - The park contains a rich biodiversity of flora and fauna and features a huge species of plants and animals including endangered species. On arrival check in at the hotel. Afternoon visit Ta Dzong - National Museum with an excellent collection of arts, relics, religious thangkha, etc. Rinpung Dzong - Meaning "fortress of the heap of jewels". The dzong now serves as the administrative and judicial seat of Paro. Evening free for leisure.
After breakfast visit Drukgyel Dzong. Also visit famous Taktsang Monastery - called 鈥淭iger's Nest鈥 (2hrs hike from the base camp) & Kitchu Monastery.
After breakfast check out from hotel and transfer to Phuentsholing. On arrival check in at the hotel.
After breakfast check out from the hotel and take the departure transfer to NJP Railway Station / IXB Airport for your onward journey.
