Get ready for a city sightseeing that comprises of a visit to St George Fort, built in 1653 and St Mary's Church, the oldest British church in India. Also visit Kalakshetra - a land for dance and arts. Evening is free to leisure.
Morning depart from hotel and drive to visit Kanchipuram, one of the holiest cities in India. The city is also renowned for hand-woven silk. Afterward drive to the coastline town of Mahabalipuram, well-known for its shore temples. In Mahabalipuram, look out for the huge rock-cut sculptures and mandapams (pillared pavilions) from the 5th to 8th centuries. Overnight halt at Mahabalipuram.
Travel to Pondicherry - a former French colony, which exudes a Mediterranean aura - whitewashed residences, ornamental gardens and excellent French-Indian restaurants. Many travelers come to see the popular Sri Aurobindo Ashram, whose spiritual belief mingles yoga and modern science. Enjoy an afternoon sightseeing tour. Overnight halt at Pondicherry.
Abiding south, reach the chola citadel of Tanjore. Also known as Thanjavur, Tanjore is a historical fortified town, with a magnificent history dating back more than 1500 years. Thanjavur was the prehistoric capital of the Chola kings whose genesis date back to the start of Christianity. Take a city tour that includes the massive Brihadishwara Temple. Built by Raja in 1010, the World Heritage protected temple has a dome weighing an estimated 80 tonnes which was pulled into place along an earth ramp in a way analogous to that used for the Egyptian pyramids. A small drive to Trichy. Trichy has been ruined by war over the centuries. A lasting heritage is the Rock Fort and its temples. Enjoy traveling around of the fort and temples on an afternoon tour. Overnight halt in Trichy.
In morning, the journey prolongs to south to Madurai. A significant centre for worship and commerce, Madurai has been around since the dawn of civilization in southern India. A bustling city jam-packed with rickshaw-pullers, pilgrims and traders and resembling a seemingly continuous bazaar overcrowded to the gunnels with shops, markets and lodgings for tourists and pilgrims, Madurai is fully yours this afternoon. Go throw yourself into a religious ceremonial at a local temple. Overnight haul at your hotel.
Subsequent to breakfast, enjoy a sightseeing tour. Highlights include the Sri Meenakshi Temple built in 1560 and the city's bustling bazaars. The afternoon is then liberated for you to further explore the city. Overnight stay at Madurai.
The journey prolongs to Periyar which has south India's most admired wildlife sanctuary and habitat to sambar wild bear, elephant, bison, antelope, langur and a small tiger population. Halt in a jungle guesthouse within the sanctuary. Evening is free to leisure.
There is plethora of things to do in and around Periyar. Enjoy a boat ride on Lake Periyar to spot herds of wild elephants or visit the nearby tea estates, ride an elephant and explore a spice plantation. Afternoon is free to leisure. Visit Kumily, an appealing town spotted with small spice and handicraft shops. Overnight stay at Periyar National Park.
Travel to Kumarakom. Perched sleepily amongst a tangle of lush tropical waterways known as the Keralan backwaters, Kumarakom is technically a cluster of islands on Lake Vembanad - one of Asia's largest freshwater lakes. This is a perfect place to lighten up for the next two days and enjoy the beautiful landscape. There is also a astonishing bird sanctuary spread across 14 acres, which is a favored hang around place for migratory birds and certainly worthy of a visit. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Keralan backwaters - Alleppey. At midday we board a fully furnished private rice-boat for a journey through the backwaters in and around Alleppey. Kerala's backwaters are shaped by 40 weird rivers that run to the Arabian Sea from the Cardamom hills in the Western Ghats, this system of rivers, canals, lakes and tributaries encompass one of India's most stunning areas - a rustic spread of grassy coconut groves and rice paddies. Our personal rice-boat get us serenely down the captivating palm-fringed backwaters, covering a distance of some 20 kms, during which time the boat will glides past local villages and fascinating scenes of everyday rural life. Lookout for a gorgeous sunset over the backwaters and take pleasure in having a delicious meals made by the onboard chef, by utilizing fresh local products. Overnight stay on board.
Disembark the houseboat after breakfast we drive back to Kochi. Kochi flawlessly replicates the principles of the state of Kerala. This afternoon enjoy a guided sightseeing tour of historic Fort Kochi. Here you can witness the Chinese fishing nets and discover the winding streets of the old town, visiting St Francis' Church and a Dutch palace built by the Portuguese and later refurbish in the Flemish style by the Dutch. A legendary in the history books, Kochi (previously named as Cochin) presented shelter to Jews around 2,500 years ago. The Portuguese set up the first European colony in Kochi in the 16th century. The Dutch speedily chased and finally, the British. The multi-ethnic mix of cultures makes the city captivating.
In evening, observe a Kathakali show - Kathakali is the traditional dance form of Kerala. Overnight stay at the hotel.
