Resting on a small hillock, Doling Gompa is a major place of interest in Ravangla. It stands in the vicinity of Doling monastery located in the alluring village of Barfung. This Gompa is considered as sacred and all monks and the Buddhist spiritual teachers worship it. All prayers conducted inside the monastery are carried under the traditional Nyingmapa style of worship.
It Is Known For:-
1) Doling Gompa in Ravangla is known as an ancient gompa. It was established during the times of Dorje Lingpa, a spiritual leader of the Nyingmapa sect. His footprints can be seen on the stone slab installed near the gompa
2) Doling Gompa is located on a hillock and due to the elevation, it offers a breathtaking view of the mighty Kanchenjunga mountains
3) The vast idol of Gautam Buddha is installed in a meditating position at the altar. Next to his idol, Dorje Lingpa's statue is also installed in a seated position. Monks and devotees offer their prayers here on a daily basis
4) Recently, the local authorities have started a school near Doling Monastery for the ones that embrace Buddhism and its teachings

The best time for visiting Doling Gompa is during October-January. During this period, the weather conditions are appropriate for visiting the monastery, gompa, and touring the nearby surroundings as well.

Doling Gompa is a well-known place in Ravangla and has a well-established network of roadways. The local transit is available in plenty for reaching the village of Barfung. From the village, one can hire the service of the mules or enjoy a short trek to reach the sacred gompa.
