Nature: The two important lakes in Bhopal are Lower Lake and Upper Lake, called Bhojtal. Both are now important tourist attractions. Kerwa Dam, Kolar Dam are some of the places to witness beautiful landscapes. Kaliyasot Dam offers various adventure sports alongside the panoramic views. Van Vihar is a zoo featuring birds and wildlife.
History: Bhimbetka Caves, located 35km from the city, have traces of pre-historic man. Out of 600, only 12 are open for tourists.
Monuments: The largest mosque in Bhopal is Taj-ul-Masajid, meaning "The Crown of Mosques". Jama Masjid, Moti Masjid and Idgah are some other mosques that remind of the Mughal Era. Sanchi Stupa Bhopal is a destination not to be missed. Other monuments are Shaukat Mahal and Gohar Mahal.
Temples: Bud Wale Mahadev has mythological significance for Hindus. The other temple is Birla Mandir, also known as Lakshmi Narayan Temple. Gufa Mandir and Khatlapura Mandir are also prominent.
