A 10 hours tour in the second largest island in this fresh-water lake (the largest is Ometepe), with its 20 square miles, The statues of Zapatera, made of black basalt, belong to an artistic complex that includes the islands of Ometepe and Granada, associated with the cultures of Mesoamerica and South America, The main statues measure between 4 and 7 feet. Their diameter easily exceeds 23 inches, all those left by the indigenous inhabitants of Nicaragua before the arrival of the Spaniards, Zapatera was then used as the ceremony island by all the existent tribes around the country and also by nomadic tribes which were on the way to find the promised land.
In the island we will visit Sonzapote for lunch, El Muerto island, Jes煤s Grande island and a community to see the day life of this ancient descendant people.
On the way back we will visit Aguas Agrias (Sour Water) natural spring and see some of the locals daily life.
