Day 1 : Cape Town - City Lodge V&a Water Front
Welcome to South Africa!! Your African Express Tours & Safaris guide will meet you at Cape Town International Airport to start your amazing safaris in South Africa. The day will be devoted to exploring the City of Cape Town. Stops will include the Company鈥檚 Gardens, Signal Hill and Camps Bay. After time for lunch in Camps Bay, you will make your way to the top of Table Mountain (it weather permits) with the cable car. From Table Mountain, spectacular views of the city, the Peninsula and Robben Island will leave you in awe.
Day 2 : Cape Town
We depart after breakfast to Hout Bay, a small fishing harbor where we will take a 45-minute boat ride to Seal Island. Thousands of seals live and play in these waters and is a delight to watch the young once chase one another! We will continue our journey along spectacular Chapman鈥檚 Peak Drive (when open) to the Cape Point where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet. Enjoy some dinner at the restaurant at Cape Point before you continue the tour to Boulders Beach to visit a large colony of mainland-based African penguins before heading back to the hotel. A blend of historical architecture, student life, epicurean delights and oak-lined avenues, Stellenbosch is a picturesque university town surrounded by mountains and vineyards. A walking tour of the town centre allows visitors to take in its beautifully preserved Cape Dutch and Victorian architecture, as well as the many enticing art galleries, craft shops, clothing boutiques and gift stores, while foodies may prefer indulging in mouth-watering cuisine and fine wines at one of the chic restaurants or buzzing bistros. Stellenbosch is also the ideal base from which to explore the renowned local wine route, boasting a high proportion of the country鈥檚 leading wine estates.
Day 3 : Stellenbosch Hotel
After breakfast, we will depart to Stellenbosch to visit some of the local wine estates, where we will sample the fine wines they produce. South Africa is known for its fine wines that is produced in this area. Simon van der Stel founded Stellenbosch in 1679. The town became known as 鈥渢he City of Oaks鈥 due to the large number of oak trees that were planted to line the streets. Oudtshoorn is famous for its ostriches and the magnificent Cango Caves. Located along the renowned Route 62, which takes motorists past one awe-inspiring sight after another, Oudtshoorn is known as the Ostrich Capital of the World: these huge birds are almost as common as people in this charming town. Other than ostriches and the wonderful feathers and meat they provide, the Oudtshoorn area also boasts the spectacular Cango Caves; the largest show cave system in Africa, permeated with sparkling stalactites and stalagmites and captivating rock formations.

After breakfast we make our way to Route 62. It might market itself as the longest Wine Route in the world, but that鈥檚 definitely not all there is to it. Lush greenery and fertile valleys form a stark contrast against the semi-desert of the Klein Karoo while towering mountains and their rivers and streams provide an awe-inspiring backdrop throughout. Some of the renowned attractions visitors will spot as they follow the route, are the winelands of the Breede River Valley, the majestic Swartberg mountains, and the fruit orchards of the Langkloof Valley.
Day 5 : Oudshoorn - Ostrich Capitol
Located along the famous Route 62, is the town of Oudtshoorn. World renowned for being the Ostrich Capital of the World: these huge birds are almost as common as people in this charming town. Other than ostriches and the wonderful feathers and meat they provide, the Oudtshoorn area also boasts the spectacular Cango Caves; the largest show cave system in Africa, permeated with sparkling stalactites and stalagmites and captivating rock formations. Nestled between the imposing Outeniqua Mountains and the Indian Ocean and surrounded by world-renowned forests, Knysna offers a wealth of activities for visitors. The beautiful lagoon and more than eight beaches provide opportunities to swim, surf, canoe, yacht, jet-ski, boat, fish, walk on soft sand and take ferry rides. Various markets offer organic goods, delicious food, indigenous plants and a social atmosphere. Mountains, valleys, lakes, forests and streams are ready to be explored. The region isn鈥檛 known as the 鈥淕arden of Eden鈥 for nothing! A birding route is available for avid bird watchers. World class golf courses are at your doorstep. And of course, the area is famous for the Knysna Heads and delicious oysters.
Day 6 : Knysna Log Inn
After breakfast we travel south to Knysna, the jewel of the Garden Route. Knysna is primarily built on the northern shore of a large warm water estuary fed by the Knysna River. The beautiful lagoon and more than eight beaches provide opportunities to swim, surf, canoe, yacht, jet-ski, boat, fish, walk on soft sand and take ferry rides. The region isn鈥檛 known as the 鈥淕arden of Eden鈥 for nothing! A birding route is available for avid bird watchers. And of course the area is famous for the Knysna Heads and delicious oysters. The estuary opens to the ocean after passing between 鈥淭he Heads鈥, and has become infamous due to the loss of boats and fishermen passing through their treacherous and unpredictable waters.
Day 7 : Knysna
Today we visit the Tsitsikamma National Park and make a quick stop at Storms River Mouth and take a short walk to the famous Big Tree, a Yellowwood giant standing 36.6 meters high and estimated to be +/- 800 years old. During the afternoon, the Knysna Elephant Sanctuary will offer guests a closer look at the African elephant by providing the opportunity to touch and feed these gentle giants. Gauteng 鈥 the place of gold 鈥 is home to one of Africa鈥檚 most vibrant cities and sub-Saharan Africa鈥檚 economic capital Johannesburg, South Africa鈥檚 capital Pretoria, the Magaliesberg Mountains and the Cradle of Humankind.
Day 8 : Gauteng - Pretoria
Today we leave the scenic Garden route behind as we head for the wealth capitol of South Africa, Johannesburg. OR Tambo (Johannesburg International) Airport Is situated on the edge of the gold rich Johannesburg. From there we will make our way to Pretoria where we will spend the night before leaving for Mpumalang. The much anticipated Mpumalang region of South Africa, host many of Southern Africa鈥檚 gems. Kruger National Park, Lisbon falls and God鈥檚 window to name a few is some of the attractions we will see on our tour. The Panorama Route is one of the most beautiful parts of South Africa connecting the Lowveld and the amazing geological features of the Mpumalanga Drakensberg. One of the major highlights of the region is the Blyde River Canyon Reserve, the third largest canyon of its kind in the world and home to spectacular wildlife and birdlife. Other highlights include the breathtaking waterfalls in Graskop and Sabie, Lisbon and Berlin Falls, Gods Window and the Gold Rush territory, Pilgrim鈥檚 Rest, home to the early gold prospectors.
Day 9 : Start Panoramic Route
After breakfast we head for the magnificent Lowveld area, on our way to Mpumalang.We will stop at the tiny town of Cullinun. Cullinan is a gem in the diamond industry of South Africa. Some of the world鈥檚 largest diamonds came from the mine next to this little town. From here on we will travel to Graskop., a little town on the beginning of the Panoramic route in the Lowveld. On this route we will stop in small towns like Dullstroom and on our way to Sabi we will cross the Long Tom Pass, and this all before we get to Graskop 鈥 witch makes for lovely scenery on its own.
Day 10 : Panoramic Route - Graskop Hotel
Today we head along the Panoramic route on our way to the world-renowned Kruger National Park. Along this route we will enjoy Gods window. God鈥檚 Window is a beautiful viewpoint on the edge of the Drakensberg mountain range. We will stop at the Lisbon and Berlin waterfalls witch both have very interesting history鈥檚. Blyde River Canyon is the third largest canyon, and the biggest all-green canyon in the world. Bourke鈥檚 Luck Potholes is where two rivers meet near the end of the Drakensberg mountain range and a truly spectacular sight in the rock formation. Kruger Park here we come. At more than 2 million hectares the Kruger National Park is one of the world鈥檚 largest game reserves and a truly remarkable destination. Because of its exceptional size you can experience amazing diversity 鈥 from the scenery and ecosystems to the correspondingly amazing array of animals, trees and birds. A trip to the Kruger National Park is an unforgettable and potentially life changing experience
Day 11 : Kruger National Park - Nkambeni Tented Lodge
We start our first day in the Kruger National Park, with an early morning game drive. The Kruger National Park is also Southern Africa鈥檚 most diverse wilderness area with animals, not only but like, the lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant and the feared cape buffalo and lots more roaming the African bush. The next 2 days will be spend in the Kruger National Park searching for these animals enjoying the outdoors and taking in the greatness of African bush.
Day 12 : Kruger National Park
Today will be started with a morning game drive with some time at leisure in the hottest hours of the day. Late afternoon we will be taken for for final game drive at sunset to take in the South African bush one last time. This will surely be a time to remember for years to come, before returning to the lodge for dinner.
Day 13 : Departure
This is a sad day for us to see you go. We check out after breakfast and make our way to OR Tambo international airport for you flight home. Taking along the amazing experience, you had the last couple of days!
