Tharpu Chuli (Tent Peak) 5,663 meter peak is a challenging face climbing peak situated in the Annapurna sanctuary. The Sanctuary is an amphitheater, with a range of impressive Himalayan Peaks forming a vast bowl, accessible only from the South through the Modi Khola River valley. The massive South Face of Annapurna South (7291m), appearing as the crown of the Annapurna South Glacier, guards the Western flank of this Sanctuary. Tharpu Chuli (5663m) is right in the middle of all from the summit of which the surrounding peaks are presented in all their glory.

Normally the Tharpu Chuli peak (5,663m.) climbing follows the route via North-West Ridge to the summit although the mountain has been climbed via the South-East Ridge as well as South-West Face also. The South Face Base Came of Annapurna is the fine ascent for climbing the Tharpu Chuli peak (5,663m.). While climbing up to the advance camp (4,500m.) we pass a steep descent into the glacier through very rough ground among the confused mass of loose rocks of all sizes on the glacier floor crossing the South Annapurna Glacier which is not an easy crossing. Then gradually we ascend up the other side of the glacier. It takes almost 7 hours to reach advance camp. However, your attempt to this challenging peak will turn worthwhile when you are rewarded with breath-taking views of Annapurna Himal massif, Mt. Machapuchare and many more. Advance camp is roughly at 4500m, just on the snowline.

The high camp is arranged at an altitude of 5000meter which is very near to the foot of the steep snow face that led to the summit ridge of Tharpu Chuli. It takes about 4 hours to climb from advance camp to high camp. Descend to Base camp from the summit will take more than 7 hours in very slippery conditions. The normal route follows the North-West Ridge to the summit although the mountain has been climbed via the South-East Ridge as well as South-West Face.

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 :

  Arrival in Kathmandu , transfer to hotel
• Day 2 :

  Guided city tour at Kathmandu & prepare the official documents such as climbing permit.
• Day 3 :

  Fly to Pokhara. In Pokhara sightseeing and boating in the lake and visiting mountaineering museum
• Day 4 :

  Drive to the trailhead Phedi. From phedi the real trek starts. Trek all the way from Phedi to Pothana.
• Day 5 :

  Trek from Pathana to Landrung Village 1,646m. Landrung is a small village inhibited by Gurung. Most of them work as Gorkha army and are well known for hardworking and faithfulness. Overnight in the village.
• Day 6 :

  Trek from Landrung Village to Chhomrong (2,030m.). Overnight in Chhomrong.
• Day 7 :

  Trek from Chhomrong to Himalaya Hotel (2,700m.). Overnight in hotel.
• Day 8 :

  Trek from Himalaya Hotel to Machapuchare Base Camp (3,757m.).
• Day 9 :

  Trek to Annapurna base camp (4,130m.) or Tent peak Base Camp at (4400m.) and take a rest. Overnight at Tented Camp.
• Day 10 :

  Ascend to Tent peak high Camp, (5,000m.) (approx). Overnight at Tented Camp.
• Day 11 :

  On the 11th day we climb the Tharpu Chuli (5,663m.) summit then descend back to Annapurna base camp. Overnight at Tented Camp.
• Day 12 :

  Take Rest for a day.
• Day 13 :

  Trek back from Annapurna Base Camp to Himalaya Hotel.
• Day 14 :

  From Himalaya Hotel to Chhomrong Village.
• Day 15 :

  From Chhomrong to Ghandruk Village (1951m)
• Day 16 :

  From Ghandruk to Nayapul then drive back to Pokhara via same route .Overnight in Pokhara at hotel.
• Day 17 :

  Fly back to Kathmandu via flight or by bus. leisure, evening farewell Nepali dinner
• Day 18 :

  Leisure time in Kathmandu.
• Day 19 :

  Fly back home
