Going through the traces of the silk route between Spiti in Himachal Pradesh to Tibet via Ladakh and Changthang, one will surely embark upon and get enchanted by the panoramic cascade of the Trans Himalaya. Spiti to Ladakh trek is one of the dream treks of every trekker that not only takes one through the changing colours of the Himalayan range, from lush green valley dotted with colourful orchards to barren and desolate terrain, but also exposes the turquoise water bodies perched aloft. Nonetheless, the journey also allows you to get acquainted with several species of Himalayan wildlife that dominates the isolated region. The Spiti to Ladakh trek is thus one of the beautiful treks in the Ladakh region that is a fusion of scenic beauty, Indo Tibetan culture and wildlife. The Spiti to Ladakh trek allows you to step into the footsteps of Buddhism in India as it turns to some of the ancient monasteries and remote villages inhabited by different sects of Indo - Tibetans.
Moreover, passing through the high altitude mountain passes and combating the narrow and rocky tracks make the journey more adventurous.
The Spiti to Ladakh trek is one of the moderate treks in the Ladakh region that starts from Kibber, which is drivable from Kaza, the capital of Spiti region. The jeep ride from Manali to Kibber via Kaza passes through the popular Rohtang Pass at 3,978 meters and thereafter snakes through Kunzam La at 4,358 meters. The drive continues to Losar followed by Dhankar Fort and thereafter wheels to Kibber. From Kibber the trekking route takes you to Pangrochen and later climbs to Parang La at 5,577 meters. The trek continues over the valley of the Pare Chu (river) to Tarang Yogma and thereafter turns to Norbu Sumdo. From Norbu Sumdo the Spiti to Ladakh trekking route takes one to the serene vicinity of Tso Moriri and thence heads to Korzok via Kiangdam. After crossing Gyamsharma La the trail leads to Gyama, which is a large nomadic settlement. From Gyama via Kyamamuri La followed by Rajung Karu and Harlam Konka, the trek turns to Tso Kar, which is another alpine lake in Ladakh region. Thereafter, the Spiti to Ladakh trek heads to Leh.
