Himalayas on Wheels to Sikkim: Small but beautiful, Sikkim is situated in the eastern Himalayas. The state is spread below the Mount Khanchendzonga (8534 m), the third highest mountain in the world, and revered by the Sikkimese as their protective deity. With an area of 7,300 sq km and measuring approx. 114 km from the north to south and 64 km from east to west, the elevation ranges from 300 meters to over 8540 m above sea level. Amidst the grandeur of the mountain peaks, lush valleys, fast flowing rivers, hills, Sikkim offers her visitors a rare and singular experience. Within a matter of hours one can move from the sub-tropical heat of the lower valleys to the cold of the rugged mountain slopes that reach up to the area of perpetual snow.

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Bagdogra to Sliguri

  Open arrival welcome and transfer to Sliguri check inn to hotel over night at Sliguri evening free and easy.
• Day 2 : Sliguri to Darjeeling Viakursang

  After breakfast check out from hotel then drive through picturesque tea gardens to the world renowned hill station Darjeeling at an altitude of 2134 m. Darjeeling is set amidst a majestic backdrop of the great Himalayan peak of Kanchenjunga (3rd highest peak in the world at 8586 m) and is regarded as the Queen of East India. Enjoy your free and easy time browsing at the local bazaar.

• Day 3 : Darjeeling Sightseeing

  Set off early morning before sunrise between 4-6 am, drive to Tiger Hill (2685 m) to experience the panoramic view of the spectacular snow-clad mountain peaks of the High Himalayan Range where sun rises from this highest point in town. On our way back we visit the Ghoom Monastery, built in 1850 by Lama Sharb, which enshrines a 15ft. Statue of Maitreya Buddha. After visiting the monastery we drive back to the Hotel for breakfast and spend some time relaxing before we take a walk through vegetable and meat market and then to the train station to board the Joy Ride Train to Ghoom. Visit the Ghoom Museum on arrival afternoon free and easy walk around the local market around Darjeeling.
• Day 4 : Darjeeling Local

  After breakfast start walk through Bhotaybasti to Lebong which is beautiful 2 hrs. Walk down hill to Lebong village visit Bhotay busty monastery & Tibetan refugee self-help center on arrival at Refugee center catch our car then drive to happy valley tea garden which is very famous with one of the oldest tea garden in Darjeeling evening free and easy

• Day 5 : Darjeeling to Kalimpong

  After breakfast check out from hotel then transfer to Kalimpong another beautiful town en route visit Lama Hatta famous for picnic spot for local people and short break at Triveny view point (also known as lover view point) on completed drive to Kalimpong on arrival check inn to hotel and lunch after lunch visit Tharpa choline monastery On the 1st day of the 11th month of the Water-Mouse year, (1912) Mrs. TrinlayGyalmo, (the sister-in-law of Rani ChonyiWangmo of Bhutan House) and her husband Bhawalolo constructed the Monastery with a main prayer hall, monk's dormitory and a private residence for Rinpoche on the donated 7 acres land which was orange garden then. MrsTrinlayGyalmo also donated 21 acres of paddy field for up-keeping precious artefacts of the Monastery. Rani ChonyiWangmo sponsored for the renovation of the Chinese temple, GesarLhangang and donated generously for the monk's living. Gradually, novice monks came from every part of Tibet from all different schools of Tibetan Buddhism and joined the Monastery on completed visit Pradhan nursery famous for cactus evening free and easy.
• Day 6 : Kalimpong to Kaluk

  After breakfast check out from hotel then one hour drive to Sikkim border line area called Mellientrence point for South-West Sikkim stop here for Sikkim immigration after completed all paper work then enter to Sikkim another one hour drive to Jorethang lunch and after lunch drive to Kaluk on arrival at Rinchenpong start walk up to Ressum Monastery one way 2 Hrs visit Ressum monastery which is one of the oldest monastery on completed walk down to same place then catch our cab then 20 Mnt drive to Kaluk over night at Kaluk.
• Day 7 : Kaluk - Pelling

  Morning see beautiful Mountain View then check out from hotel then transfer to Pelling En-Route hot spring visit the caves of Milarepa and a hot spring near at Reshi Kola near Legship on completed drive to Pelling evening free and easy.
• Day 8 : Pelling Local Sightseeing

  After breakfast visit Pemayangtse monastery the monastery, located at an elevation of 2085 m, is built with scenic backdrop of snow-capped mountains on two sides. Built as a three storied structure, the monastery depicts paintings on its walls and statues of saints and Rinpoches, deified in various floors. The monastery was damaged by earthquakes in 1913 and 1960 but has been refurbished several times. The monastery belongs to the Nyingma order (established in the 8th century by Padmasambhava) and characteristic feature seen in this monastery is of statues of Padmasambahva and his two consorts In the main prayer hall (1,500 square feet (140 m2) area), the Dukhang or Lakhang, the main temple, which has colorfully painted doors and windows, depict Tibetan designs. The main statue of Padmasambahva (also known as Guru Rinpoche who revived Buddhism in Tibet and was also the propagator of Vajrayana or tantric form of Buddhismseen here is in his wrathful form as DorjeBhurpaVjarakila with multiple heads and arms on completed visit Rabdentse ruins second capital of Sikkim after lunch visit The SangaChoeling Monastery, also spelt SangeChoeling Monastery established in the 17th century by LamaLhats眉nChempo, is one of the oldest monasteries in the Northeast Indianstate of Sikkim. • Day 9 : Pelling - Yumsam

  After breakfast drive to Khecheopalri Lake, originally known as Kha-Chot-Palri (meaning the heaven of Padmasambhava), on completed drive to Kanchendonga waterfalls lunch at Yuksam after lunch visit Dubdi monastery which is one of the oldest monastery in Sikkim evening free and overnight at Yuksam.
• Day 10 : Yuksam-Tashiding-Ravangla

  After breakfast check out then transfer to TashidingMonastry, where the Dalai Lama came to rest (so good and special this place). After the tour and lunch, drive to Rabungla and visit the statue of Tatragata (Buddha Gautama).over night at Ravongla
• Day 11 : Ravangla-Namchi-Gangtok

  After breakfast drive to Namchi visit Sangdruptse highest statue of Guru Padmasamvawa also known as Guru Rimpongi which is 135 Ft high on completed drive to Chardham-This unique Pilgrim Centre has a main temple of 108 feet height on which is based the 87 feet high statue of Lord Shiva on the sitting posture at the Solophok Hill. Apart from Shiva statue, this Pilgrim Centre also has replicas of the twelve Jyotirlingas, to offer one platform for Shiva devotees. Lord Shiva incarnated as Kirateshwar in Indrakeel (Present Sikkim). Therefore, in this incarnation he is locally worshipped by the people of Sikkim as Lord Kirateshwar. A statue of 16 1/2 feet height of Lord Kirateshwar is also installed in the complex. In order to attain Moksha, the Hindu belief is to perform pilgrimage to all the existing four Dhams. Thereby, replicas of these four Dhams, namely Badrinath, Jaganath and Dwarka dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Rameshwar, dedicated to Lord Shiva is also constructed. After lunch drive to Gangtok capital of Sikkim.
• Day 12 : Gangtok Local Sightseeing

  After breakfast visit local sightseeing around Gangtok capital of Sikkim. Visit:-Enchey monastery literally means the solitary temple. At the time it was constructed, it was the only building in the entire area. This place especially attracts attention during the religious dances or 鈥機haam鈥� performed in January. The relatively small monastery was built 200 years ago and the present building was constructed in the year 1909. The site where the monastery is built is supposed to be blessed by Lama DruptobKarpo, a tantric master known for his flying powers. Namgyal Institute of Tibetology is a great way to get acquainted with Tibetan culture. Regarded as the highest seat of learning amongst the Mahayana scholars, this Institute was built in 1958 and is a famous global center for the study of Buddhist philosophy and religion today.
  
  It houses the world's largest collected works and rare manuscripts on the theme of Mahayana Buddhism. Apart from this collection, the museum has more than 200 Buddhist icons, antique paintings, thangkas, statues, shrines, tapestries, masks and other religious works of Tibetan Art. The Institute also has in its keep around 30,000 volumes; most of them in the form of xylographs. Xylographs are document prints on wooden slabs with matter imprinted on them. It also has translations of the original teachings of the Lord Buddha and discourses by eminent Buddhist scholars from all parts of the world. Visitors can also buy Buddhist religious books and Tibetan crafts from the Institute. On completed drive to Nam Nang Rope way, flower exhibition center & Handy craft and handloom center after lunch drive to Rumtek monastery evening free and easy.
