On arriving at the Guwahati Airport or Railway station, you will be received by our staff representative who will drive you to Shillong.On the way, you can visit the Umium Lake which is normally known as Barapani Lake. It is a reservoir located in the hills and about 15 kilometers to the North of Shillong in the state of Meghalaya.This reservoir was actually formed by damming the Umiam River in the early 1960s. The major catchment area of the lake and dam spreads to an area of over 220 square kilometers.Upon arriving at Shillong, check in to a pre booked hotel and relax for a while. Afterward, you are free to indulge in leisure activities followed by having dinner and an overnight stay at the hotel in Shillong.
After having a mouth watering breakfast meal, begin your drive towards Cherrapunjee and head to visit the Nohkalikai Falls which is naturally, one of the top most destinations in Cherrapunji.The out of this world waterfall is actually the tallest plunge waterfall in the country which falls from a height of about 1115 feet.Visit the Mawsmai Cave which is considered to be one of the best caves in Meghalaya and Cherrapunjee.Next, visit the Dainthlen Falls which is situated near Cherrapunjee and is one of the most admired waterfalls. Also, the compelling Dain Thlen Falls at Sohra makes for a prominent tourist spot.Subsequently, visit the Nohsngithiang Falls which is the fourth highest waterfall in the entire country. Since, seven streams flow down the plateau, the falls is known as the Seven Sister Falls.Later on, return back to Shillong and on the way back; stop to visit the Shillong Peak which offers amazing views of the city from a height of 1966 meters above the sea level.
After breakfast proceed for mawlynnong village, a small village in Meghalaya famous for its cleanliness. It is perhaps the cleanest village in Asia.
Also visit the living root bridge.
From there gp for the small town of Dawki, located in the Indo Bangladesh border.
