This is a full-day excursion based on the famous book “ROOTS’ written by the Afro-American Author, ALEX HALEY. This excursion will enable guests to explore the River Gambia and the Countryside. Departing from your hotel, we proceed to the harbor of Banjul, where we embark on the boat from Banjul we sail to St. James Island. St. James Island is strategically situated within the mouth of the River Gambia. This Island was used as a base during the Atlantic Slave Trade. The island has been declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
After visiting the Island, and after we enjoyed a nice buffet lunch, we proceed on the boat to Albreda, and walk for ten minutes to the famous village of Juffureh, the ancestral home of Kunta Kinteh, the main character in the book Roots. Here we shall visit the museum before proceeding to visit the Kinteh Family. After visiting the main institutions in the village, we join our boat and cruise back to Banjul, with a good chance to spot the many dolphins who like to accompany the boat.
