Day 1 : Arrival Delhi.
You will be met from your flight to Delhi International Airport by Summit Safari’s representative / your tour guide, and he will accompany you to your hotel in New Delhi. Rest of the day free at leisure.
Day 2 : Delhi to Manali (2,050 metres / 6,726 feet)
Today it is along but interesting day of journey from the plains of India from delhi to The Foot Hills of Himalayas to Manali. Early in the morning, you will be assisted to board the super fast Shatabdhi train from New Delhi ( 07:30 A.M)to Chandigarh ( 11: 10 A.M). Breakfast will be served to you on this first class train. On arrival at Chandigarh railway station we will be met by our drivers and they will drive us to Manali ( 7/8 hrs) You will reach Manali in the evening and will transfer to your hotel.
Day 3 : Local Manali.
In the morning you have your relax time to sleep or to walk around before we start with our Royal Enfield Motor Bikes. In the afternoon, around 1:00 P.M we will have a briefing on the bikes, before you take a ride out to Naggar village and castle on your Royal Enfield Motor Bikes. Naggar was the ancient seat of the ruler of Kullu Valley. We will visit the Naggar castle and will have a cup of tea here, before we ride back to Manali. This tour of 3 hrs approximately will provide you a chance to know your motor bike properly and if you feel to do some adjustments in your bike the accompanying mechanic will do the final adjustments in the evening. Your evening is free to explore old Manali, Hindu temple of Hadimba Goddess, or to spend your free time in a local restaurant or in your hotel with a drink in your hand.
Day 4 : Manali to Jispa – 3,200 m or 10,500 feet (138 kms / 7 hrs)
Today early morning we start our ride on the beautiful Manali Leh Road to Jispa and will ride over the challenging Rohtang Pass (meaning ‘Pass of Corpses’)- the gateway to the high desert mountains of Great Himalayas. After crossing at 13,000 feet on Rohtang Pass we will enter the beautiful Lahaul Spiti province and will stop for the tea break / lunch break in the small local eating places at village Khoksar. Later on we continue our ride to Jispa through Tandi and Keylong. We will arrive Jispa by late afternoon, which itself is a very tiny the night at the tiny settlement with a couple of local houses, hotels and camps. Jispa sits at the foot of the mighty 16,000-foot Baralacha Pass at an altitude of some 10,500 feet – again providing valuable acclimatisation time before heading really high on the Manali Leh Road.
Day 5 : Jispa to Sarchu 14,500 feet (85 kms / 4 hrs)
The day includes many hairpins, especially in the scaling of a sinuous ribbon of tarmac up to our second mountain pass, Baralacha La (4,830 metres/ 15, 847 feet). The view from the top is extraordinary. Today we enter from the brown mountains to golden sandy mountains. This road is, on the whole, well-surfaced. On the other side of Baralacha descend onto a huge, open plain with an azure river frothing at its centre, surrounded by huge mountains. Sarchu is situated on the border of Jammu-and-Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh states and is where we will stay in a fixed tented accommodation in a seasonal camp.
Day 6 : Sarchu to Tso-Kar Lake 4,595 metres 15,075 feet (140 kms / 7 hrs)
Today we ride through 21 hair pin bends to Lachlung La Pass (5,019 metres/ 16, 467 feet) and enroute we enjoy magnificent views of the Mountains and the valleys. We will also cross Naki La Pass (4,740 metres/ 15,551 feet) before we ride down into the valley to Pang . Today there are chances to see the Snow ibex and the herds of wild Himalayan blue sheep in between Sarchu to Pang. Lunch will be taken at the small eating places with fresh food at village of Pang, before we ride through the vast More Plains The highest of the Tibetan Plateau at 4200 metres– to Tsokor lake. This region also has rare wild life like the Tibetan wild Ass, wolf, and the elusive Snow Leopard, the black-necked Crane and Tibetan Snow Cock After around an hour’s riding we will leave the Manali Leh road at the end of more plains and will take right turn into another valley After around an hour’s riding in this bleak yet spectacular setting, and head for Tso-Kar, a deep blue salt lake up at 13,780feet, set against the spectacular Himalayan setting , reached via remote roads. Here we will stay overnight in a fixed tented accomostaion in a seasonal camp.
Day 7 : Tso – Kar Lake TO LEH 3524 metres (11,562 ft) ( 150 kms 5-6 hrs)
After breakfast we will take a short ride to Tsokor lake and later we will head North- East to meet the Manali Leh road Again where we leave it yesterday. We Continue riding our motor bikes to Tanglang La pass (5280 Mts.) the second highest motorable pass in the world that commands breath taking views of the Zanskar range and the upper Indus valley. We stop on the way in the local eating places to sip a cup of tea and while following the Indus river and the spectular mountains views with green fields and purple mountains, sandy landscape we arrive in leh – the capital of Ladakh valley, by late afternoon. Overnight stay in Hotel in Leh.
Day 8 : Local in Leh.
Today we have an easy rest day or walking around Leh town also known as the Little Tibet due to the landscapes and the Buddhist Religion and monasteries. It is at nearly 12,000 feet above sea-level in the Upper Indus Valley and like all Ladakh its culture is principally Tibetan Buddhist. There are also Muslim, Christian and Hindu communities in Leh. Overlooking the town is the huge, nine-storey Leh Palace, long since abandoned, but still impressive and worth a visit. There are many more ancient temples and monasteries to visit and the old market is a fascinating experience. There are also modern influences in this busy tourist area, including a plethora of restaurants, bars and souvenir shops. Second Night in the same hotel in Leh.
Day 9 : Leh to Khardung la Pass – The world’s Highest Motorable road and return back to Leh (80 kms both
Today we leave Leh for our challenging ride over Khardung La Pass (5,600 metres / 18,380 feet ,’La’ meaning ‘pass’ in Ladakhi), reputed to be the world’s highest motorable road. In less than 30 miles (40 kms) the road will carry us around 8000ft high in altitude. On the other side of the mountain pass the road leads town to Nubra valley following the old silk route. The views across to the Kangri Mountains (25,000 feet) is one of India’s highest mountains and Zanskar beyond are consistently stunning. We will have time for pictures and to sip a cup of Tea in The world’s highest restaurant here. Later on we will ride back down to Leh through the same route.
Day 10 : Leh to Pangong Lake 4,250 metres/ 13,940 ft (160 kms 5/ 6 hrs)
Today after breakfast we will ride towards Pangong Lake .The ride over Chang La pass (17,500 feet) will take us in the most remote of regions of Ladakh valley to Pangong Lake. Pangong Lake is the largest lake in the Himalayas situated at a height of about 4,350 metres (14,300 ft). It is 134 km long and extends from India to China (Chinese occupied Tibet) 60% of the length of the lake lies in China. The lake is 5 km wide at its broadest point. We will stay overnight stay at Spangmik village in the fixed tented accommodation in a seasonal camp. Spangmik, the farthest point to which foreigners are permitted, it affords spectacular views of the mountains of the Changchenmo range to the north, their reflections shimmering in the ever-changing blues and greens of the lake’s brackish waters.
Day 11 : Pangong Lake to Thiksey ( 145 kms 5 hrs)
The ride up to and over Chang La (17,500ft) should take us in the region of six hours and is another utterly absorbing ride. Having crossed the high pass, we descend towards bright green arable villages, nestling in the valley below. The day ends at a hotel set just beneath Thiksey Monastery. In the evening you will be free to walk uphill to Thiksey monastery to watch the sunset
Day 12 : Thiksey to Leh.( 15 kms)
The morning is free to explore more of the monastery and surrounding village, or take a well-deserved lie-in. In the afternoon take a sort ride to Leh, where you will leave the Motor bikes. Rest of the time free to explore the local market of Leh . Overnight in a hotel in Leh.
Day 13 : Fly from Leh to Delhi.
After breakfast, in the morning we will assist you to Leh airport to board the flight back to New Delhi. After your arrival at New Delhi airport you will be met & assisted by Summit Safari’s representative, and he will accompany you to your hotel. Check in at your hotel and have time to fresh up your self, later on you will be taken for a half day tour of Delhi , and we will visit Bangla sahib Gurudwara ( a Sikh shrine), a walking tour of old Delhi market and the Gandhi Smriti, also known as the Birla house where –Mahatma Gandhi had lived the last 144 days of his life from 09 September 1947 to 30 January 1948 when he was assassinated in 78th year of life at Birla House Prayer Grounds by Nathuram Godse. Thus, the house treasures many memories of his life. If interested we will arrange for a bicycle rickshaw ride in old Delhi or a Tuk- Tuk ( Three wheeler ) ride in New Delhi for you. Return back to your hotel in evening.
Day 14 : Fly back to your country.
Today after breakfast at your hotel, you will be assisted and will be transfer to the international airport at New Delhi to board your return flight. in case you have a flight in the evening than you may wish to go to visit the Connaught place market where you notice typical Georgian buildings and market centers. This place is named after Duke of Connaught. Lunch could be have in a local restaurant and later on transfer to the international airport at New Delhi to board your return flight.
