Package Overview

Mahabalipuram is located in Kanchipuram about 62 km towards south of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It is an old port town and was popular for its beautiful stone carved temples and other palaces. It’s construction was taken for longest time around 200 years by Pallavas.

The Shore Temple is considered as the last monument built in the year and the speciality of monuments is monolithic i.e. carved out of a single rock. Shore Temple has three shrines. Out of which, the main shrine and the second smaller one is dedicated to Lord Shiva and the remaining small shrine is dedicated to Lord Vishnu.

Sthalasayana Perumal Temple, Mahishamardhani temple and the Adivaraha Mandapas, The Five Rathas (Pancha Rathas) are some of the excellent creations of the artists and each temples are carved out from one single rock and it’s really rare to be in this world. The foreign as well as Indian visitors really get surprised to see the carving tactics.

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Chennai - Mahabalipuram

  Morning you will be picked up from Chennai and drive by surface to Mahabalipuram. Upon arrival you will be check in at your hotel. In the afternoon you we will go taken for city sightseeing tour of Mahabalipuram visiting Shore Temple. A Shiva lingam is enshrined in the central building and the site can get very crowded on weekends. Five Rathas (Pancha Pandava Rathas): The Five Rathas (Pancha Rathas) are some of the excellent creations of the artists and each temples are carved out from one single rock and it’s really rare to be in this world. Overnight : Hotel in Mahabalipuram.
• Day 2 : Mahabalipuram

  Today morning after breakfast you will be taken for full day sightseeing tour of Mahabalipuram visiting
  
  Thirukadalmallai: This temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It was also built by Pallava King in order to safeguard the sculptures from the ocean. Sculpture Museum: East Raja Street has hundreds of sculptures in stone, wood, Arjuna's Penance, Krishna's Butterball, Mahishamardini Cave.
  
  Later enjoy the sandy beach for relaxation or can do Boat rides at the sea shore.
  Overnight : Hotel in Mahabalipuram.
• Day 3 : Mahabalipuram - Chennai

  Morning free to relax. In the afternoon you will be driven back to Chennai and drop off place to be advised
