Icelanders take their legends, myths quite seriously. And the tales are quite interesting almost rationalizing it! Even the Snaefellsnes is named after a half troll half man B谩r冒ur Sn忙fells谩s. Whether the poor young troll was wrongly accused and met his maker a bit early or not, the place is truly magical.
Snaefellsnes Peninsula in western Iceland has some of the most magnificent lava fields, volcanoes, glacier, waterfalls, mineral springs, beautifully formed rocks, yellow and black sand beaches as well as caves and very interesting bird colonies. From friendly seals to shark meat, this is where you get as traditionally Icelandic as possible! If you are brave enough you can taste the 鈥渄elicious鈥 rotten shark 鈥 followed quickly by a shot of Icelandic schnapps, or 鈥渂rennivin鈥 in case the taste is a bit overwhelming! Let鈥檚 just take off. The magical place is waiting, teaming with trolls and elves!
Day 1 : Reykjavik
On arrival at Reykjavik - Keflavik International Airport, get transferred to Hotel. It's the day to get acclimatized to the place. Enjoy the city at your leisure. Close the day with your first dinner in Reykjavik at one of Iceland麓s best restaurants: Dill or Fish Market.
Watch the beautiful midnight sun before settling down for the night.
Day 2 : Reykjavik
This chopper ride takes you over one of the most active volcanic areas in Iceland, the Hellishei冒i plateau. You can see moss covered lava fields stretched out to the horizon, interspersed with colorful basalt mountains, steaming hot springs and the geothermal power plants that supply Reykjavik its renewable energy. Stop at the Hengill geothermal area and then continue to Nesjavallavirkjun, Bl谩fj枚ll mountain range, Reykjavik City and Kristnit枚kuhraun.
Day 3 : Reykjavik
Today starts with an action packed adventure. Start with the incredible Geothermal helicopter tour.

Day 4 : Hverager冒i Geothermal Village
Today you will explore the famous Golden Circle. First stop will be at Hverager冒i some say is the hot springs capital of Iceland . Hverager冒i may be seen from the vantage point of the Kambar mountain slope, as it spreads out across a 5,000 year-old lava field. Troughout the year, pillars of steam from the numerous hot springs in the town may be seen rising up out of the ground.
Continue on your journey and stop at Fri冒heimar Farm is a family owned busines and their principle has been to grow tomatoes with optimum taste quality, while maintaining eco-friendly standards. The tomatoes are grown all year, using state-of-the-art technology in an environmentally-friendly way. Green energy, pure water and biological pest controls make for tasty and healthful tomatoes. Cucumbers have also been cultivated at Fri冒heimar since 2011.
Next, drive across fertile farmlands to the breathtaking Gullfoss 鈥楪olden鈥 Waterfall where a narrow path provides close-up views of the thundering two-tiered cascade below.
On the way, visit Thingvellir and Geysir a geothermal area where hot springs are in abundance, geysers explode and boiling pools of mud bubble.
Thingvellir National Park (UNESCO) is Iceland鈥檚 greatest historical site and a jewel of nature. It is the visible site of the mid-Atlantic Ridge where the N. American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet. Thingvellir is also where the first ever parliament was created by the Vikings in the year 930. Enjoy an easy hike in this stunning area.
Enjoy an exhilarating snowmobile adventure on Langj枚kull glacier! While the south is certainly spectacular from 鈥渂elow鈥 nothing beats experiencing it from 鈥渁bove鈥, snowmobiling on top of the glacier. The snowmobile tour is the perfect length of time for first-time riders and individuals looking for a scenic, fun ride, exploring and experiencing the wilderness, glacier and the breathtaking views.
Day 5 : Sn忙fellsnes
Today explore the stunning Sn忙fellsnes Peninsula with your private driver-guide. This is a unique area with a variety of geological interests such as lava fields, volcanoes, glacier, mineral springs, beautifully formed rocks, yellow and black sand beaches as well as caves and very interesting bird colonies. On a clear day you will enjoy a view of the mystical Sn忙fellsj枚kull glacier, a beautifully shaped strato volcano at the very end of the peninsula. Stop at Ytri Tunga sandy beach- this charming Icelandic beach is a great place for children to run around and seal spot! It鈥檚 one of the best places in Iceland to see them especially in July. The seals are friendly and curious and often climb up on the rocks near the sandy beach. Continue to explore the Sn忙lfellsnes peninsula. Visit Bjarnarh枚fn Shark Museum, a family run museum and production of fermented shark meat, a traditional Icelandic dish loved or loathed by natives. If you are brave enough you can taste the 鈥渄elicious鈥 rotten shark 鈥 followed quickly by a shot of Icelandic schnapps, or 鈥渂rennivin鈥 in case the taste is a bit overwhelming! The museum features shark fishing paraphernalia and the family麓s old fishing gear, from fishing hats to boat and everything in between. Your private chef from your villa will make you a delicious packed lunch to eat in the amazing moss covered lava fields on Berserkjahraun (Berserk lava), one the most beautiful lava fields in Iceland. The moss is extremely soft and some say better to sleep on than any mattress!
Day 6 : Hvammstangi
After visiting the Seal Center hop aboard a private boat for a Sealwatching experience from Hvammstangi. During the summer you have the perfect opportunity to see seals in their natural environment. Seals are sea mammals that live in the northern hemisphere. They keep close to the shores so they can crawl up on big rocks or beaches to rest. Even though seals are wild animals, it does not take them long to get used to the closeness of humans. Seals are curious by nature so with a good camera, and a telephoto lens, you can expect to get marvelous photos of them in their natural environment.
Day 7 : Borgarfj枚r冒ur
The last stop on thie epic adventure isBorgarfj枚r冒ur, Iceland鈥檚 second largest lowland area, rich in farming, lakes and rivers for fishing, rugged scenery with chasms and waterfalls, with glaciers forming a majestic backdrop on the western rim of the highlands. Drive in a Super Jeep past the historic site of Reykholt, where the poet and politician Snorri Sturluson lived in the 12th century. Visit Deildartunguhver at 180 l/sec of 100掳C hot water it has the highest flow rate of hot springs in Europe. Admire the picturesque waterfalls Barnafoss (Children鈥檚 Falls) and Hraunfossar (Lava falls), a series of waterfalls formed by rivulets streaming over a distance of about 900 metres out of a lava field. Visit the Ice Cave, a man-made cave that stretches deep inside the glacier and consists of a series of tunnels and caves carved through solid glacier ice. The Ice Cave is located about 30 meters below the glacier鈥檚 surface and you will ride right up to the ice tunnel and walk down into the magnificent ice caves beneath the ice cap. Your expert guide will take you on this fantastic journey into the icy netherworld deep within the glacier.
