12 Nights / 13 Days
This itinerary is specially designed to maximize chances of thrilling experiences with this majestic predator, the Indian Tiger. Many forays into the wild jungles to spend extended hours in prime tiger reserves and national parks, looking for this elusive animal are a way to treat the wildlife enthusiast to the best possible extent. Sighting these animals in their natural habitat is a joy for all who love to be as close to them as possible.
Starting out from Delhi, where we enjoy a half day’s sightseeing programme, we journey first to Ranthambore National Park. One of the most famous reserves in India, Ranthambore is renowned for its tigers and is one of the best places to see these majestic predators in the wild. Tigers can be easily spotted even during the daytime. From Ranthambore we make our way towards Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, famous for its thousands of exotic birds including some highly endangered species, such as the Siberian crane. Drive to Agra and en-route we see the glorious old Mughal city of Fatehpur Sikri and visit the Taj Mahal in the early morning – the best time to see this stunning landmark. The overnight train ride south to Jabalpur is an enjoyable and authentic Indian experience. We then travel by road to Kanha National Park, often considered the most beautiful and most pristine wildlife reserve in the country. Its deciduous forests are remnants of the vast jungles which once covered central India, and still harbour a significant population of tigers, leopards, sloth bears, barasinghas (species of deer with twelve antlers) and dhole (the Indian wild dog). This is followed by a trip to Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, another home of the tigers, also home to a large breeding population of leopards. The final leg of the tour covers the remarkable jungle temples of Khajuraho. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, these 10th-century structures were lost in the jungle until re-discovered in the 19th century. The exquisitely carved, erotic stone sculptures are unique to this place and therefore visited by call connoisseurs of art and culture
