Evening visit Jama Masjid- The Jama Masjid, built in 1423 by Ahmed Shah, is beside Mahatma Gandhi Rd , to the east of the Teen Darwaja. Although 260 columns support the roof, the two ‘shaking’ minarets lost half their height in the great earthquake of 1819, and another tremor in 1957 completed their demolition. Much of this early Ahmedabad mosque was built using items salvaged from the demolished Hindu and Jain temples. It is said that a large black slab by the main arch is actually the base of a Jain idol, buried upside down for the Muslim faithful to tread on. Stay overnight in the hotel.

  • Day 4 : Ahmedabad

After breakfast, visit to Sabarmati Ashram. This ashram was Gandhi's headquarters during the long struggle for Indian independence. His ashram was founded in 1915 and still makes handicraft, handmade paper and spinning wheels. Gandhi's spartan living quarter is preserved as a small museum and there is a pictorial record of the major events in his life. The ashram is open from 8.30 am to 6.30 pm (7 pm between April and September). Admission is free. There is a sound-and-light show for a small charge at 6:30 pm (in Gujarati) and 8:30 pm (in English on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday and in Hindi on the other nights. The beautiful ashram complex of Ahmedabad, with its shady trees populated by thousands of parakeets, beefeaters, sunbirds and squirrels, offers a refuge from the loud streets of the city, and one of the famous tourist attractions of Ahmedabad. Later visit to Sarkhej step well (Dada Hari)- Gujarat 's step wells or "baolis" are strange and unique and the Dada Hari Well built in 1499 is a magnificent masterpiece representing the typical Gujarati style of architecture entirely underground, they were built to overcome heat and dust. Behind the well is the tomb of Dada Hari. Northern Gujarat abounds in remarkable step-wells, with elaborately carved walls and broad flights of covered steps leading to the shaft. Dada Harini Vav, in the northwest of the city, is one of the finest. While it is a Muslim construction, built in 1500 for Bai Harir Sultani, superintendent of the royal harem, the craftsmen were Hindu and their influence is clear in the lavish and sensuous carvings on the walls and pillars. A lady of Sultan Mahmud Begara's court built one such step well in 1501. It is a fascinating place, though has signs of neglect today. It has a series of steps leading down to lower platforms terminating at a small, octagonal well

  • Day 5 : Ahmedabad

Breakfast at the hotel. Later visit to Museum of the city-built by Le Corbusier- The museum is on pilots' through which the building is entered into an open court from which a ramp, similarly opened to the sky, leads to the exhibition levels. One enters the main level in a nave of spiral squares 14 meters wide, consisting of 7x7 m structural bays. All precautions are taken against the excessive temperature of the day. It is assumed that visits to the museum will be made particularly in the evening and night-time; they will wind up on the roof which will offer a wonderfully flowered surface formed by more than 45 basins, of 50 square meters each, all filled with water to a depth of 40 cm.

Later visit Mill Owners Association ( Le Corbusier), on Ashram Road (open during business hours)- When the Mill Owners' Association Building in Ahmedabad was built in 1954 Le Corbusier had just finished Notre-Dame-du-Haut at Ronchamp and was already well renowned as a modernist. The Mill Owners' Association Building was commissioned by a wealthy mill owner family as the new head quarters with administrative offices and spaces for events. The Mill Owners' Association Building is entered through a ramp that gives a smooth transition into the largest space of the building. From there, there is access to offices, meeting room, and a roof top garden envisioned as a gathering place for social events.

The Mill Owners' Association Building has the same raison d'être as most of Le Corbusier's work. It is mastery in organizing spaces in three dimensions with incredible attention to all details while using the Curbusier x y z grid. You can also visit to: Indian Institute of Management- by Luis Khan Evening is at leisure. Stay overnight in the hotel.

During the reign of Shah Jahan, the structure was known simply as the rauza, the tomb. Later, the mausoleum would be called the Taj Mahal, a derivative of the name Mumtaz Mahal. Known for its symmetry, the Taj Mahal sits on a raised platform surrounded by four minarets. Inside are delicate mosaic works and marble walls adorned with intricate patterns of inlaid precious stones. The emperor Shah Jahan is said to have celebrated the anniversary of his wife's death in the mausoleum, kneeling before the cenotaph of white marble studded with gems and semiprecious stones, as prayers were offered up for the peace and repose of the empress' soul Evening is free for shopping.
