Day wise Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Guwahati Arrival

    Meet & greet on arrival at Guwahati airport & transfer to Hotel. Guwahati, 鈥楾he light of the East鈥 is the commercial capital of North East lying adjacent to the shores of the turbulent Brahmaputra. For guests arriving in the morning, enroute to hotel visit the Maa Kamakhya temple and Sankardev Kalakhetra. Situated on top of the Nilachal Hill, Maa Kamakhya Temple is the most sacred among the tantrik shrines of Shakti worship in the world. Kamakhya temple is also famed for the annual Ambubachi Mela held for 4 days during monsoon season. There are images of Lord Ganesha, Goddess Chamundi and many dance fixtures. Situated on the Nilachal Hill, the temple structure resembles a Shikhara - a beehive. Besides the main Devi temple, there are temples of 10 Mahavidyas in and around temple. These include Bhuvaneshvari, Bagalamukhi, Chinnamasta,Tripura Sundari, Tara, Kali, Bhairavi, Dhumavati, Matangi and Kamala Temples. Temple doors remain open for devotees in the following timings - 08:00 am to 01:00 pm & 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra is the cultural complex, named after the most revered Saint of Assam, Srimanta Sankardev and provides a glimpse into Assamese culture & heritage. It has a cultural museum, library and various facilities for preserving, demonstrating and performing cultural items, besides a children's park within the sprawling premises. The Central Museum exhibits culture and heritage of different ethnic groups of Assam showcasing their dance, drama, music and art. Another famed attraction in the Kalakshetra is an Artistic Village. This Assamese village portrays the village life of Assam in the form of life like statues and model thatched huts.

  • Day 2 : Guwahati - Shillong

    After breakfast check out of hotel & drive to Shillong (100 kms / 3 hrs drive from Guwahati airport). En route witness the Umiam Lake or Barapani - is the biggest artificial lake in Meghalaya in midst of sylvan hills adorned by Khasi pines & peerless beauty. Check-in Hotel and after refreshment if time permits visit Cathedral of Marry and Ward鈥檚 Lake. Evening free at leisure to explore the region on own. You may take a walk to the famous Police Bazaar for shopping. Overnight in Shillong.

  • Day 3 : Shillong - Cherrapunjee - Shillong

    After breakfast drive to Cherrapunjee, the wettest place on the earth, for an awesome day trip. En route visit the famous Elephant Falls and Shillong Peak - to enjoy a bird鈥檚 eye view of Shillong city. At Sohra, stop at the Duwan Sing Syiem view point for mesmerizing views of the Hills. In Cherrapunjee be witness to the gorgeous Seven Sisters Falls and Nohkalikai Falls. Later take a soft cave walk inside the Mawsmai Cave. The limestone cave is a natural wonder with innumerable formations inside it. After lunch at Cherrapunjee, visit Thankarang Park. Drive back to Shillong for overnight stay. Note: Most of the waterfalls are dry during winter season.

  • Day 4 : Shillong - Tezpur / Bhalukpong

    After breakfast drive to Tezpur / Bhalukpong (325 kms / 7 hrs drive), a town on the Assam 鈥 Arunachal Pradesh border. Check in to hotel. Overnight in Tezpur / Bhalukpong.

  • Day 5 : Tezpur - Dirang

    Morning after breakfast, drive to Dirang (4910 ft). Enroute visit Tippi Orchid Centre. Arunachal, the 鈥極rchid Paradise鈥 is famed to have the largest variety of orchids in India. The Orchidarium at Tipi shelters 500 or more varieties of orchids which are available in various parts of Arunachal Pradesh. It is a premier Institute of excellence in orchid research and development, under the State Forest Research Institute (Department of Environment and Forests , Arunachal Pradesh). Check in Hotel. Evening at Leisure. Overnight at Dirang.

  • Day 6 : Dirang - Tawang

    Morning after breakfast, drive to Tawang (10,000 ft). En route witness the unique Dirang Valley famous for its monasteries, hot Springs, Apple & kiwi Orchards, sheep breeding farms & charming valleys. Also witness the snowcapped Sella Pass at 13700 ft, the Jaswant Garh War Memorial and Jung Falls. Overnight in Tawang. Jaswant Garh War Memorial : Legend has it that Jaswant (Mahavir Chakra Awardee (Posthumous) of 4th Batallion Garhwal Rifles), fought a lone battle against the invading Chinese during the 1962 war. His spirit is still believed to protect the place. Sela Pass : @13700 ft, the Sela Pass is is snow-covered (full or partial) all through the year and has breathtaking mystic views. Close to the Pass is the beautiful Sela Lake, a heart-shaped lake chiseled between the mountains, which intensifies the beauty of the region. The Lake is mostly frozen in winter. The Sela Pass is the main route to access Tawang town and is located 78 km before reaching Tawang. Jung Falls : The Nuranang falls (original name) @6000 feet is located about 40 km before reaching Tawang is famed as one of the most stunning waterfalls in North East India. The falls height is about 100 meters. The legend about the waterfalls goes that it is named after a Monpa girl Nura who aided an Indian soldier during the 1962 Sino-Indian War.

  • Day 7 : Tawang

    Tawang is the beautiful land of the Monpa tribes. 鈥楾he Land of Dawn-lit Mountains鈥 at 3500 mts gives you unparallel purity of nature. After breakfast, visit the Tawang Monastery, Urgelling Monastery, Ani Gompa and PTso Lake. The Tawang Monastery, also known as the 鈥淕ALDEN NAMGYEL LHATSE鈥 is one of the largest Lamaseries of Mahayana sect in Asia and is the largest of its kind in India. The Monastery is 400 year old and is adorned with the 18 feet high statue of Lord Buddha. It stands at 10,000 feet amidst the exotic Himalayan ranges and overlooks the Tawang-Chu valley. The Urgelling Monastery is located 5 km from Tawang city, and is the birth place of the 6th Dalai Lama, born in the 17th century. The monastery was established by the Lama Urgen Sangpo in the 15th century. Mongpa village visit will acquaint a visitor to their lifestyle, culture and traditions. The villages are located amidst exquisite beauty. Later visit the War Memorial commemorating the bravery of the Indian heroes of the Indo-China war of 1962. Witness the light & sound show in the evening. Overnight in Tawang.

  • Day 8 : Tawang - Bomdila

    Morning drive back to Bomdila. At a height of 8OOO ft., Bomdila is a small town famous for its Buddhists monasteries, magnificent valleys and Himalayan landscapes. Evening free at leisure. Overnight in Bomdila.

  • Day 9 : Bomdila - Kaziranga

    After breakfast drive to Kaziranga (280 kms / 8 hrs drive). Check in to Jupuri Ghar or similar. Overnight in Kaziranga.

  • Day 10 : Kaziranga

    Kaziranga, the World Heritage Site is the oldest park in Assam & is located on the banks of the Brahmaputra River. Kaziranga National Park is a natural habitat for conservation of biologically diverse flora & fauna. It is inhabited by the world鈥檚 largest population of one-horned rhinoceroses besides sheltering about 15 species of India鈥檚 threatened mammals. There are numerous other major wildlife fauna. Early morning go for Elephant ride @ 5:00 am. Return for Breakfast to hotel. After breakfast proceed for Jeep safari in the Central Range. With Kohora as the entry point, the Central Range covers the Daglang and Foliomari area. Later enjoy Local Village & Tea Garden (Outer View) tour. Overnight at Kaziranga. In the afternoon you may take an optional Jeep Safari (at ADDITIONAL COST) in Western Range of Kaziranga National Park. With Baguri as the entry point, the range covers the Monabeel, Bimoli, Kanchanjuri areas. Overnight in Kaziranga.

  • Day 11 : Kaziranga - Kohima

    After breakfast transfer to Kohima (260 Kms / 6 hrs drive). Check in Hotel Japhu or similar. Evening visit the local bazaar where you can be introduced to the Naga food items consisting of vegetables, insects and fishes. Overnight in Kohima.

  • Day 12 : Kohima

    After breakfast enjoy full day sightseeing covering the War Cemetery, the church, the Sale Emporium and Kohima Village. After lunch visit Jakhama village to experience the real Angami Naga tribal way of living as you take a village walk. Also visit the Heritage Complex where the Hornbill festival is celebrated every year. Overnight in Kohima. War Cemetery: The revered memorial commemorates the brave soldiers and warriors who laid their lives fighting the Japanese during the World War II. It is embellished by two tall crosses against the backdrop of seasonal roses & lush greenery. The base of the lower cross, is engraved with the lines: 鈥淲hen you go home, tell them of us & say; For your tomorrow, we gave our today鈥 Nagaland state Museum: it is housed in ancestral weaponry & provides an insight into the Naga culture, traditions & history. The exquisitely carved gateposts, status pillars, statues & traditional Naga costumes & jewelry are the main exhibits of the museum. Kohima village: The village is said to be the biggest & most populous in entire Asia. According to Naga legend, the present day Kohima was founded here. At the entrance are exquisitely carved ceremonial gates, with the scimitar of horns of mithun (BosFrontalis), symbolizing bravery & valor. The Catholic Cathedral at Aradura Hill in Kohima, is one of the biggest cathedrals in North-east India. Its splendid architecture makes it one of the important landmarks of Kohima. The unique design created by blending the traditional with the orthodox developed into an architectural marvel. A must-visit place in Kohima

  • Day 13 : Kohima - Imphal

    Morning after breakfast, drive to Imphal, the capital of Manipur. Visit Shri Govindajee Temple and Manipur State Museum. Evening free at leisure to visit the Khwairamband Bazaar (a local market run by mothers). Overnight in Imphal. Manipur, the Land of Jewels, lies in a lowland crisscrossed by the water-channels of the Loktak Lake in the North East corner of India. The diverse culture of the state is depicted In martial arts, dance & music and handloom & handicraft. The magnificent natural beauty of the state is a unique charm of the place.

  • Day 14 : Imphal

    Morning after breakfast, tour the city covering Zoological Garden and Khonghampat rchidarium, . Later drive to Moirang (45 km / 1 hr), the ancient capital of the Manipuri Kings. It is also the centre of Meithei culture. Cross by the local villages as you go to see the Sadu Chiru waterfall and the Japanese war memorial, which reflects the history of the Second World War. Visit the Keibul Lamjao National Park (the only floating park in the world). It is the last natural habitat of the marsh dwelling brow-antiered deer locally called 鈥楽angai鈥. Near-by is the Loktak Lake and Sendra Island (a hillock Isand with mesmerizing views of the Loktak lake). Loktak Lake is the largest fresh water lake in the North East. Watch the unique floating islands 鈥楶humdi鈥 that are actually floating weeds on which people live ! Return to Imphal. Overnight in Imphal

  • Day 15 : Imphal Airport Departure

    After breakfast transfer to Imphal airport for onward journey. TOUR ENDS HERE.
