Package Overview

The trek to Green Lake, the base camp of Mt. Kanchenjunga on the Zemu Glacier, from where the peak stands sharp and powerful with the distinct Mt. Simvo on the left is a must for real trekker. On the walk you can find the variety of flowers like rhododendron, blue poppies and primulas all in bloom. The mountain views are fantastic with amphitheater of peaks with Kanchenjunga at the head of the valley. However, the Green Lake base camp is more than 5000m and so proper acclimatization is essential to avoid altitude sickness.
Permit

Foreign nationals would require a restricted area permit from the Ministry of 魅影直播 Affairs, New Delhi along with permission from the State Chief Wildlife Warden, Sikkim Environment and Wildlife Management, Gangtok.

Duration: 10 Nights and 11 Days
Highest Altitude: 5,050m.
Grade: Moderate to Challenging.
Best Time to Trek: September to November.

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 :

  Pick-up atBagdogra Airport.Meet & Greet on arrival at IXB airport & transfer to Gangtok (5,500 ft), (128 kms / 4 hrs).Overnight stay at the hotel in Gangtok.
• Day 2 :

  Morning drive to Lachen (9,400 ft, 124 km). On the way visit Seven Sister Waterfalls. Lunch at a local restaurant on the way. Check in at Hotel in the late afternoon. Overnight stay at Lachen.
• Day 3 :

  Trek from Lachen to Jakthang (3300m).
  Following the main North Sikkim highway to Thangu, we reach the junction of the Lachen Chu and the Zemu Chu at Sema. After crossing the Zemu Chu, we proceed westward up the Zemu valley following a trail through the forest. The path of Rhododendron thickest and fallen tree trunks lead to Lhonakchu before reaching Jakthang, situated in a small meadow with a broken heardsmen鈥檚 hut that makes a convenient first night halt.

• Day 4 :

  Trek from Jakthang to Yabuk (3850m).
  From Jakthang, the path to Yabuk climbs through the forest and after three hour of steady walking, we reach the snout of the Zemu Glacier. We reach Yabuk by lunch time.
• Day 5 :

  Yabuk- Rest Camp (4500m).
  Following the glacier of the Zemu, the trail is mainly over boulders and the Zemuchu rushes through the glacier and as the valley opens up the great peak comes into view. The rest camp is situated right opposite Siniolchu and has a fabulous view of one of the most beautiful mountains in Sikkim. Along the trail blue sheep is often sighted. Walk slowly as the sir gets thinner and acclimatization becomes of essence.

• Day 6 :

  Trek from Rest Camp to Green Lake (5050m).
  The trail from Rest Camp climbs gently up the valley for about three to four hours. This is one of the finest walks with the Siniolchu, Simvo, Twins and the Kanchenjunga are some of the giants that dominate the horizon. Rest at the camp, known as the Green lake Plain, the name being delivered from a small tarn at the eastern end where on clear morning the reflection of the Kanchenjunga is seen in the waters.

• Day 7 :

  Rest day at Green Lakes.
  Spending the day lazing in the sunshine watching the peaks. The Zemu gap that links the Zemu valley to the Talung valley is clearly seen from the hill behind the camp with the magnificent view of the Kanchenjunga as well.

• Day 8 :

  Green Lake to Yabuk.
  The return journey would be much quicker as it is downhill.
• Day 9 :

  Yabuk to Jakthang.
• Day 10 :

  Jakthang to Lachen.
• Day 11 :

  Lachen to Gangtok. Trek ends.
