Package Overview

Kinnaur, is about 235 km (146 mi) from the state capital, Shimla, located in the northeast corner of Himachal Pradesh bordering Tibet to the east. It has three high mountains ranges, namely, Zanskar and Himalayas that enclose valleys of Sutlej, Spiti, Baspa and their tributaries. The slopes are covered with thick wood, orchards, fields and picturesque hamlets. At the peak of Kinnaur Kailash mountain is a famous natural rock Shivling (Shiva lingam). The district was opened to outsiders in 1989. The old Hindustan-Tibet Road passes through the Kinnaur valley along the bank of river Sutlej and finally enters Tibet at Shipki La pass.kinnaur is the second richest district in terms of per capita income after Solan in Himachal Pradesh.

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Shimla – Sarahan (170 km 7-8 hrs)

  Shimla – Sarahan
  Today pick up from Shimla and our representative meet over there then transfer to Sarahan.
  En Route: Kufri, Fagu, Narkanda & Rampur Bushahr.
  Check into selected hotel.
  Beautifully nestled amidst the snow capped mountains of Himachal Pradesh, the small village of Sarahan lies against the scenic backdrop of Pine trees, wild flowers, and many gushing streams. Sarahan is dotted with apple orchards and Oaks that provide a sharp contrast against the snowy mountains. Deep down the valley, river Sutlej flows where stand tall the peaks of Shreekhand. Sarahan is the abode of famous Bhimkali Temple, which is a sacred pilgrimage centre for the Hindus, and is one of the fifty-one Shaktipeethas. The temple boast an unusual architecture and displays beautiful carvings that make it a perfect example of the Indo-Tibetan style. The region was once the summer capital of the Bushahr State. Quite nearby to the temple, there is a breeding centre for pheasants which is also home for Monal, the State Bird. Fifty km from Sarahan is the captivating Bhaba Valley, which with its picturesque setting, Alpine Meadows, and Reservoir Lake, attracts quite a significant amount of tourists. Also it serves as a gateway to Kinnaur and a base for numerous treks.

• Day 2 : Sarahan – Sangla (90 km 3-4 hrs)

  Sarahan – Sangla
  Today morning drive to Sangla.
  En route : Teranda Mata Temple, Teranda Dhank (world’s most dangerous road) and Karcham Dam. Check into selected hotel.
  After that you can do a short trek to Kamru Fort.

  Sangla – Chitkul – Local Sightseeing
  Today visit to Batseri Village (one of the beautiful village of Kinnaur). After that visit to Chhitkul (last village of Kinnaur attached with Tibbet border).
  After that back to Sangla for local sightseeing
  Place covered : Budhhist Monastery, Bering nag Temple, Sangla meadow and Local market of Sangla.

• Day 4 : Sangla – Kalpa (48 km 2-3 hrs)

  Today morning after breakfast proceed to Kalpa.
  En Route : Reckong Peo Market (Distt. Headquater of Kinnaur).
  On reaching Kalpa, check into the hotel. Once known as Chinni, little has changed in Kalpa in the last 500 years. Legend has it that when Lord Dalhousie wanted to take a break from his hectic schedule in shimla, he would come here on his Horseback. By the side of Kalpa is a 79- foot rock formation that resembles a Shivlinga that changes the colour as the day passes and is visible to the naked eye on a clear day.
