Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : TRAVEL TO MANAGUA

  Upon arrival transfer to hotel. Take some time to relax before meeting for a welcome cocktail and orientation with your tour director tonight.

• Day 2 : MANAGUA - RANCHO SANTANA

  Located just an hour from Granada, Volc谩n Masaya National Park is Nicaragua鈥檚 most impressive outdoor attraction. Only a few volcanoes sites in the world allow visitors to simply drive up to the crater edge. Take a look into what the Spaniards declared to be the very 鈥渕outh of hell鈥� and visit the park鈥檚 impressive nature museum. Ask the staff to interpret the geology and ecology of the site. We continue our journey south and stop at Caf茅 Las Flores Coffee Plantation. Our guide at Hacienda El Progeso will teach us about the history and processes of coffee growing. After lunch and a cup of coffee, we are on our way to Rancho Santana. Tucked between the vast Pacific and immense Lake Nicaragua, Rancho Santana has the distinction of being one of the only isthmuses on the entire Pacific Ocean. It is a strip of land that is bordered on both sides by water, yet connected on each end by land. This rare geographical phenomenon gives the Ranch nearly constant breezes. Upon arrival, we check into our villas and take some time to unpack. Join us for dinner tonight at 鈥楲a Finca El Mar鈥� which translates to 鈥楾he Farm and the Sea.鈥� Relax and soak in the ambiance on the open-air terraces offering stunning views of the Pacific.

• Day 3 : RANCHO SANTANA

  Wi-Fi is free and abundant at Rancho Santana. Each villa features a private bathroom per bedroom, shared kitchen and living facilities. Your refrigerator has been stocked with your basic breakfast items. Bond with your new roommates over coffee and scrambled eggs, while taking in breath-taking views of the ocean. Take this day to relax at your pool, or take a stroll on the beach. If you are ready for a more active day, sign up for optional horseback riding where guides take you up the coast along the beach, and then through local villages. The horses are responsive, strong, and well trained. You will be matched up to the horses according to your riding experience and each ride is tailored to the interests and time frame of riders.

• Day 4 : RANCHO SANTANA

  Are you up for some outdoor yoga? Under the Yoga Palapa on Playa Santana, take a class with a professional instructor and melt away stress as you listen to waves gently crash onto the beach. Today may be the day for you to explore another one of the five beaches. Sign up for an optional surf or paddle boarding lesson today or simply rent a board from the surf shop. If you are pre-planning a dinner with your housemates tonight, the Ranch has its own grocery store and dry goods market, La Tienda. The shop also carries a variety of items to rent, such as beach chairs, baby seats, strollers, surf boards, kayaks and grills.

• Day 5 : RANCHO SANTANA

  Enjoy another day at your pool or nearby beach or consider donating some of your time to the people of Nicaragua. With the considerable amount of real estate development occurring in this impoverished region, developers felt it was necessary to 鈥済ive back鈥� to the local community. Representatives from Rancho Santana decided to create a non-profit clinic in the town of Lim贸n. Later, consider exploring the unique and fascinating flora and fauna of Nicaragua鈥檚 southern coast with a knowledgeable on-site naturalist. Head out into the wild and discover a wealth of biodiversity, including a variety of species of tropical birds, trees, plants, flowers and even monkeys. Hikes are designed for beginner to intermediate hikers and can be tailored to fit your needs.

• Day 6 : RANCHO SANTANA

  Consider indulging in one or more spa treatments today. The beachfront cabanas truly nurture an environment of peace and tranquility. Rediscover the art of relaxation while you鈥檙e here in paradise! For a more active day, cruise around Rancho Santana on two wheels, using your own power. Recommendations can be provided or a guide can be hired. Some guided tours are offered free of charge, bikes included. Alternatively, you can join us on an optional fishing trip today. Nestled in a private cove overlooking the beautiful pink sands of Playa Rosada, enjoy a tranquil farewell beach barbeque tonight.

• Day 7 : RANCHO SANTANA - GRANADA

  oday we continue north to Granada, one of the most beautiful cities in Central America, set along the shores of Lake Nicaragua with views of volcanoes on Island Ometepe. Countless historical buildings line the city's cobblestone streets with elegant homes and tranquil parks, an urban elegance complemented by nearby natural attractions. Today you may choose an optional city tour of Granada and go shopping, or join us on an excursion to nearby Mambacho Volcano. Explore the inactive volcano on foot with your expert guide and discover unique plants and wildlife, including reptiles, monkeys and birds. Are you ready for an adrenaline rush? Join us for a zip-lining adventure above a lush rainforest landscape and coffee plantations while enjoying panoramic views of Granada and its surrounding area. We return to Granada for our farewell dinner.

• Day 8 : TRAVEL HOME

  After breakfast we transfer to Managua airport. Leaving sunny Nicaragua behind, we bid farewell filled with memories of the fun we had exploring new lands with new friends.
