Closed to outside world for centuries, Ladakh lies high in a remote region of western Himalayas. In this part of Buddhist India monasteries overlook landscapes of snow-clad peaks, plateaus and deep valleys. Our itinerary traverses the mountain roads and the world’s highest pass to some of Ladakh’s most isolated locations.
Our tour begins with a spectacular flight over the Himalayas to the remote Ladakhi capital, Leh. At 3,500 metres above sea level. Leh was once a major trading post at the junction of the historic silk route that ran from China and Central Asia to the plains of India. The queer, distinctive culture and history, closely related to Tibet, are demonstrative of the way of life and culture well-preserved for hundreds of years. We spend the first two days acclimatizing to the high altitude with a gentle sightseeing tour of the sights around Leh before heading out in the Jeeps to the spectacular 11th century Alchi monastery. We take an exhilarating hike out to Mangyu monastery through the amazingly scenic Western Tibetan Plateau before travelling to the ethereal beauty of Pangong Tso, a sapphire-coloured high-altitude lake that serves as summer grazing area for nomadic yak herders. En route back to Leh, we also stop by at Hemis monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The tour involves extensive driving and some hiking, including side trips into the remote Nubra Valley after crossing Khardung La (5,602 metres), the highest motorable pass in the world with fabulous panoramic views across the Himalayas. A visit to Agra to see the magnificent Taj Mahal gives this incredible tour a fitting finish.

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Delhi

  Arrive at the international airport of Delhi. After the traditional welcome, transfer to hotel for overnight stay. Rest of the day is free. Overnight Hotel.
• Day 2 : Leh

  In Delhi get a morning transfer to airport to catch flight to Leh. In Leh have a free day for acclimatization. In the evening enjoy a short walk in local market. Overnight Hotel.
• Day 3 : Leh

  In the sightseeing programme of Leh today visit Shanti stupa, Shankar Gompa, Tshemo monastery and the Leh Palace in the heart of the city. Overnight Hotel.
• Day 4 : Alchi

  After breakfast drive to Alchi. En route visit Rizong monastery that holds special significance for Tibetan Buddhists who belong to Gelugpa sect of Buddhism. (62 KMS; 2-3HRS) Overnight Hotel.

• Day 5 : Alchi

  Spend the morning hiking to Mangyu monastery. In the afternoon return to Alchi. Rest of the day is free to explore the place further. Overnight Hotel.
• Day 6 : Leh

  This morning drive back to Leh via Likir where there is an old monastery to visit. Later visit Basgo monastery to get further insight into Buddhism. (62 KMS;2-3 HRS) Overnight Hotel.
• Day 7 : Pangong Tso

  This morning drive to Pangong Tso of crystal blue water. En route visit Tak Tak and Sakti villages to get some insight into the lives of the locals. (170KMS’6-7 HRS) Overnight Guest House.
• Day 8 : Pangong Tso

  Today enjoy a free day for local exploration of Pangong Tso and nearby places. (170KMS’6-7 HRS). Overnight Guest House.
• Day 9 : Leh

  This morning drive back to Leh. En route stop at Hemis to visit one of the biggest monasteries in Ladakh. Driving towards Leh visit Thiksey monastery as well. Overnight Hotel.
• Day 10 : Nubra Valley

  This morning drive to the Nubra valley, also known as Ldurma (the valley of flowers) over Khardung La pass (5,602 metres). This is one of the finest days to enjoy the panoramic Ladakh. (5,602 metres; 150KMS;5-6HRS) Overnight Guest House.

• Day 11 : Nubra Valley

  This morning drive to the Nubra valley, also known as Ldurma (the valley of flowers) over Khardung La pass (5,602 metres). This is one of the finest days to enjoy the panoramic Ladakh. Overnight Hotel.

• Day 12 : Leh

  Today take a return journey once again to Leh. Enjoy a free afternoon to relax or explore the town further. (150KMS;5HRS) Overnight Hotel.
• Day 13 : Agra

  This morning take a departure transfer to Leh airport to catch flight to Delhi. From Delhi drive to Agra where the rest of the day is free. (DELHI-AGRA 240KMS;4-5 HRS) Overnight Hotel.
• Day 14 : Delhi

  Early in the morning visit Taj Mahal while the sun rises. Return to the hotel for breakfast, and after checking out, visit Agra Fort before returning to Delhi for departure transfer to airport.
