Christmas in Northland is going to be pretty spectacular. At this time of year its hot, the days are long, and the nights are warm. Thats giving you lots of time to soak up the sun, the atmosphere and the ambience in the Bay of Islands.
There’s lots to see and do on the menu, including a visit to a bird recovery centre, a stroll around Russell, a drive to Long Bay, a ferry ride to Opua, perhaps an evening swim, all culminating in a lovely Christmas dinner at the Copthorne Hotel.
While you relax and reflect on those activities its time to visit the harbourside village of Mangonui and lunch at the famous Fish N Chip shop. Following on with some sightseeing and an afternoon tea in Kerikeri, then return to the Bay of Islands.
Staying on the waters edge at Omapere and visiting villages and bays are for your leisurely enjoyment. Topped off with a visit to the Matakohe Kauri Museum, and a short walk to view the wonderfully majestic Tane Mahuta ‘Lord of the Forest’ Kauri tree. Its estimated at 2,300 years old! Thats some longevity.
Christmas In Northland is going to leave you feeling richer for all the beauty, hospitality and sheer joy you will experience on your Bay of Islands extravaganza.
