Day 01 -Arrive Paro- Thimphu ( 55km, 1 ½ hrs )
• Arriving at Paro Airport and upon clearing immigration and customs, you will be greeted by your guide and driver. Drive about 1 hour 30 minutes to Thimphu ( 2,286 m ), the Capital of Bhutan
• After lunch at hotel, visit the memorial Chorten, buit in 1974 in loving memory of the Third king, His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuk.
• Visit Buddha Point where there is large statue of sitting Buddha. You will be able to see the perfect view of Thimphu Valley.
• Visit the Takin Reserve, where you can see the national animal of Bhutan ( Takin )
• If there is still time you can just enjoy wandering through Thimphu’s city street.
• Overnight at Thimphu
Day 02- Thimphu Sightseeing
• This morning visit Institute of Zorig Chusum ( commomly known as the painting school) where you can see young girls and boys learning and practicing the ancient arts and crafts of Bhutan.
• Visit Textile Musuem where you can see the collection of wide range of textiles from different part of Bhutan.
• After lunch visit paper factory where you can see how the Bhutanese papers are hand made.
• Visit weekend vegetable market where the market provides opportunity to mingle with the local people and a wide variety of food stuff. You can even find local arts and crafts.
• In the evening, you will visit Tashichho Dzong (the fortress of the glorious religion). Tashichho Dzong houses His Majesty,s Secretariat and the Central Monk body. You can see the National Assembly building across the river.
• Overnight at Thimphu
Day 03- Thimphu to Phobjikha ( 6 hrs )
• This morning you will be transferred to East ward to Phobjikha Valley. The first stop leaving Thimphu is Dochula pass at 10,500ft where you can see one of Bhutan’s most enchanting views. If weather permits,from this pass, the breathtaking peaks of Bhutan,s northern border.
• At Dochula you will also see a unique cluster of 108 Namgyel Khangzang Chortens commissioned by a former Queen as a tribute and monument to the selfless services and visionary leadership of our fourth king, HM Jigme Singye Wangchuck.
• Visit Gangtey Goenpa, an old Nyingmapa Monastery built in 16th century.
• Overnight at Phobjikha.
Day 04-Phobjikha to Punakha Valley ( 3 hrs )
• After breakfast gentle hike of 2 hrs through a beautiful Gantey valley on a Gangtey Nature Trail .
• After lunch drive back to Punakha.
• Overnight at Punakha
Day 05-Punakha Sightseeing
• After breakfast at hotel drive towards Nezergang and hike about 1 hr 30minutes to Khamsum Yueley Namgyel chorten, built by the Queen Mother in 1999 for the protection of the country and universal peace in the world.
• Visit Punakha Dong located strategically at the junction of the pho chu and Mo chu buit by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel in 1637, which formally served as the seat of the government and is still the winter residence of the Dratshang ( Central Monk Body ).
• Overnight at Punakha
Day 06-Punakha to Paro ( 3 ½ hrs )
• After breakfast drive back to Paro
• After lunch in a local restaurant visit Paro Rinpung Dzong ( fortress on a heap of jewels )
• Visit Paro Musuem which housed in an ancient watchtower and view the fine collection of ancient artifacts.
• Overnight at Paro
Day 07- Paro ( Taktshang ,Tiger’s nest hike )
• In the morning hike to Taktshang Monastery ( populary known as Tiger’s Nest ). Tigers Nest clings to a cliff of rock at 3000 ft above the valley floor and where Guru Rinpoche flew on the back of a tigress to subdue the local demons followed by 3 months meditation in a cave still visible in the monastery.
• Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest and most beautiful temples boasting an orange trees that perpetually bears fruit. It is one of the 108 temples built by the Tibetan king in one day.
• Overnight at Paro
