• Day 1 : NEGOMBO - SIGIRIYA

  Enroute visit Pinnawala Elephant orphanage.
  Sigiriya or Sinhagiri is an ancient rock fortress located in the northern Matale District near the town of Dambulla in the Central Province, Sri Lanka. It is a site of historical and archaeological significance that is dominated by a massive colum of granite rock approximately 180 m (590 ft) high. Sigiriya today is a UNESCO listed World Heritage Site. It is one of the best preserved examples of ancient urban planning.

  AFTER BREAKFAST, LEAVE FOR ANURADHAPURA
  Start the tour by visiting the sacred tree where Lord Budha became enlightened, Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi. Visit the firs Buddhist Temple of Sri Lanka, Thuparamaya, which literally means the place where monks live. Get to see the remains of Lowamahapaya, which once housed over 1,000 monks and attendants. Further, visit the magnificent Abhayagiriy Monastery, the largest among the 5 Viharas. Many have heard the Ashtadasha Shakti Peetha Shloka starting with LANKAAYAAM SHAANKARI DEVI.composed by Sri Adi Shankara which means Shankari in Lanka. This Shloka enumerates the list of places of Devi temples which are considered to be part of the 18 Devi Peethas.
