Upon your arrival at Kigali Airport, your guide will meet you and transfer you to Kigali city to have a glimpse of this beautiful city. The city is filled with new developments including the new developed markets were visitors can buy some souvenirs, the genocide memorial site which was mainly constructed to commemorate the 1994 genocide that took place in Rwanda as well as a visit to art galleries. After the city tour, have lunch in one of the local restaurants and enjoy the traditional meals of Rwanda. Later on transfer to the mighty volcanoes National Park which is only 80kms from Kigali city and has an altitude of 2400km to 4,507km above the sea level. This park is also dominated by many volcanoes and harbors the tomb of the famous primatologist Dian Fossey who gave up his 20 years caring for the mountain gorillas. Tracking these gentle giants is a memorable experience and coming eye to eye with them is worthwhile rewarding. On arrival to the park, check in to your accommodation
Have your early morning breakfast at your lodge; your guide will lead you to the park headquarters to be briefed about the dos and the don鈥檛s of gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park. This is really an exciting trek which provides good views of the Virunga Mountains in all directions. You will follow a trail that enters the rain forest full of many wildlife species. Some of these include; monkeys, buffalos, elephants, birds and many more. Later, after a great search for these gentle giants, you will come eye to eye with these wonderful primates and be given a full hour to interact with the gentle giants and also take photos. This is the most exciting experience of this two day safari in Rwanda. You will watch them feed, play and jump all over the trees. After your trek, the rangers will escort you back to the lodge to enjoy your late lunch and you prepare to relax for the afternoon or take a community walk around the park to interact with the local people.
Have breakfast early in the morning and after proceed with the park guide to trek the golden monkeys, these are also very interesting animals to watch while they feed, play and move around trees. Another option might be a visit to Dian Fosssey tomb, where you will learn more about this primatologist who cared for the mountain gorillas (optional activities are not included on the final cost). Return to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon, visit the local school to interact with the locals.
After your heavy breakfast at your lodge, check out of the park and start your transfer back to Kigali airport. You will have a city tour where you will visit the markets, pottery project, national museum, handicraft shops etc. have lunch in the city and after transfer to the airport for your departure flight back home.
