Kigali, Rwanda is actually the closest International Airport to the Mountain Gorillas of Bwindi, Uganda to take you to and from.
It also gives you the perfect chance to experience and extra trek with the Golden Monkeys of Rwanda and their rich and magnificent culture whilst taking advantage of the more affordable Gorilla Trek conditions of Uganda.

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Arrive, Tour Briefing, Kigali City Tour and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

  You will be warmly met in the morning at Kigali International Airport by an African Unique Safaris and Tours representative who will kindly introduce you to your driver guide and provide a tour briefing over a nice cup of Rwandan coffee.
  Then your driver/guide will take you on a Kigali City Tour including the deeply moving, educational and ultimately inspiring Genocide Memorial. Whilst emotionally challenging the transparency, reconciliation and rebuilding success since the tragedy in 1994 is incredible.
  After lunch head off to Volcanoes National Park in the north of Rwanda. Enroute you will get many photographic opportunities as you discover why this country is called the land of a thousand hills.
• Day 2 : Golden Monkey Trek and Ibyiwacu Village Tour

  Early in the morning your driver/guide will transfer you to the start of your Golden Monkey Trek. There the park rangers and guides will brief you before you set off to spend an hour with these rare, energetic and beautiful creatures.
  Rwanda is considered the best place in Africa to view Golden Monkeys as it has a large habituated in a fairly confined area.
  After the trek your driver/guide will take you back to your lodge for lunch and to freshen up before heading out to Ibyiwacu Cultural Village to experience traditional Rwandan living and customs.
  After Ibyiwacu you will be assisted across the border to Uganda and on to your accommodation of choice in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest:
• Day 3 : Mountain Gorilla Trek

  After breakfast your driver/guide will transfer you to the nearby park headquarters for a briefing on your Mountain Gorilla Trek.
  The park rangers will teach you about Gorilla behavior and some Gorilla language before you set off with your assigned group in search of these magnificent primates.
  The trek can take from 1-8 hours depending on the movements of the Gorillas up and down the mountains of Bwindi. When you come across your Mountain Gorilla group it will be a huge thrill. You get to spend an hour watching their social interaction, play, eating and sleeping. This is often described as one of the planets great animal encounters.
  Upon descent your drive/guide will transfer you back to your lodge to share stories and experiences with your fellow guests and trekkers.
  Overnight at your accommodation of choice:
• Day 4 : Transfer Back to Kigali

  After breakfast, if you have a late connecting flight in Kigali you can fit in a very interesting Batwa Experience. The Batwa are the original inhabitants of the Bwindi forests and their lineage is thought to go back 10,000 years. Their small stature is thought to be an adaptation to forest living. Learn their forest skills and customs of these forest dwellers.
  If you flight leaves earlier than 6pm we will take you straight back to Kigali via the scenic drive. Hope to you see you again.
