During More Than 15 Years Now, Danielle Childrens Fund Ecuador Has Been Contributing Actively to the Co-construction of Healthy, Protective Families and Communities in Favour of the Children. the Enthusiastic and Dedicated Team of Psychologists and Social Workers Works On a Daily Basis with Children, Families and Communities in Order to Guide Them During a Process of Change & Growth that Enables Them to Change Lifestyles and Turn Difficult Situations Into Opportunities. Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Night in Quito

  You will be picked up from the airport of Quito and transfered to Hotel Reina Isabel, a 4 star Hotel centrally located in the Mariscal Area
• Day 2 : City Tour - 2.800 m / 9,184 ft Night in Quito

  City TourFew cities in the world can match the setting of Quito, the second highest capital in Latin America after La Paz. Quito lies in a narrow valley running north to south. It is wedged between the slopes of the volcano Pichincha to the West and a steep canyon formed by the Machangara River to the East. Quito is very much a city of two halves: The Old City is the colonial centre, where pastel-coloured houses and ornate churches line a warren of steep and narrow streets, and the New Town where you will find Quito鈥檚 main tourist and business area.
  In 1990 Quito was declared World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. In the whole city there are more than 80 churches, some of them are worth seeing. During the morning, we will visit some of the main colonial churches in the old part of Quito such as Santo Domingo, the Bas铆lica, San Francisco; the fist religious building constructed in South America in1553 by the Spanish, and drive up to the hill of El Panecillo where there is an impressive statue of the Virgin of Quito. From there we will have a good view of the whole city. Exploring the city is a good way to begin you acclimatization process! In the evening, all participants are invited to attend a presentation about the expedition and the projects of Dani毛lle Children鈥檚 Fund.
• Day 3 : Hike to PasochoaHike to Pasochoa 鈥� 4.200m /10,758ft

  Today we leave around 08.00am for a short drive to get to Pasochoa, where a 4 hours hike to the volcano is waiting for you. First, we will be crossing the fields of Hacienda 鈥淢etler鈥�. Pasochoa is an ancient and heavily eroded volcano that has been inactive since the last ice age. If the weather permits, from the summit, we will be able to take a good look at the crater. Inside you will see the Pasochoa Protected Forest Reserve, a humid Andean Forest with more than 110 species of birds and 45 species of trees, located between 2.700 m / 8,856ft and 4.200 m /13,776 ft. On a sunny day you can normally see condors. We return to Quito the night.
• Day 4 : Guagua Pichincha Hike - 4.700 m / 15,694 ft Night at Hacienda Guachala

  Guagua PichinchaGuagua (Quichua for baby) is one of the three major peaks that make up the Pichincha massif. It is located 20 km west of Quito. It is normally snow free but an occasional high-altitude storm will cover the mountain with a layer of snow.
  In the past it was possible to descend into the crater of the volcano. You could watch the fumaroles and superheated water rising from its vents. However just a couple of years ago Pichincha suddenly became active again and covered Quito temporarily with a layer of ash. At present the Pichincha crater continues spewing and venting. Guagua Pichincha is a good second acclimatization hike. We drive up to 4.000 m / 13,120 ft from where we start the hike to the summit. It is quite an arduous walk and normally takes three hours up and one hour down.
  On a clear day you have a beautiful view of the so-called Avenue of the Volcanoes including Chimborazo, Cotopaxi and Cayambe. After the hike we drive to Hacienda Guachala for the night
• Day 5 : Fuya Fuya Volcano Hike 4.300m/ 14,100ft Night at Hacienda Guachala

  Fuya Fuya Volcano We leave Hacienda Guachala after breakfast for a short drive to Fuya Fuya, this is highest peak of the Mojanda Masive. Mojanda is a huge blown-out calderas that measures 3km, there are 2 peaks Fuya Fuya and Cerro Negro, below these peaks we can see 3 beatiful lakes. From this place we can have great views of Cayambe and the surrunding northen peaks of Ecuador
• Day 6 : Cuicocha lake hike 3.200m/10.496 Night at Hostal Aya Huma

  Cuicocha lakeTo the Northwest of the town of Otavalo and just 58 km North of Quito stands Cotacachi, a sacred mountain in the religious conception of the northern Indians. It is and old eroded and extinct volcano located in the Cotacachi-Cayapas Ecological Reserve.
  Below its slopes lies the remains of yet another volcano called Cuicocha Crater or Guinea Pig Lagoon, whose caldron was filled by the water of the melting glaciers above, thousands of years ago. Cuicocha is a collapsed volcanic crater that measures 3 km / 1,9 miles in diameter and is about 200 m / 656 ft deep, but still shows signs of activity. At dinner tme there will be live Andean music from a local band
• Day 7 : Otavalo Market Night at Casa de Aida

  Otavalo MarketOtavalo is one of Ecuador鈥檚 most important indigenous markets, and the most visited centre of ethnic tourism in Ecuador. The local inhabitants known as Otavale帽os are proud and prosperous people, who have achieved international recognition not only as successful weavers and textile exporters, but also as a symbol of cultural fortitude among the indigenous people of Ecuador and the whole continent.
  The otavale帽os are the descendants of former "mitimaes", people who were forced immigrants brought by the Incas as a way to establish political domination and control, when they invaded this part of the Andes just a few decades before the Spanish arrived.
  In the market you will have a chance to buy local textiles and hand crafts. It is open every day. The textile industry is so big in this region, that the Plaza de Ponchos is now filled with vendors all the time. The Otavale帽os also sell some textiles and crafts from other parts of Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia. The variety of shapes, colours, goods and people make the Otavalo market a paradise for photographers, who will enjoy a delightful experience.
• Day 8 : Imbabura 4.630,/15,190ft Night at Casa de Aida

  Imbabura is a strato volcano located a few kilometers east of Otavalo. There are two main summits on Imbabura. The higher peak is reached by traversing a knife edge crater rim from the north summit of the normal route.
  The peaks of Imbabura were once glaciated, and used to serve as an important ice source for the nearby villages. People would climb high onto the mountain to get ice from the glacier and carry it back to sell at the markets in the villages of Otavalo and Ibarra. We return to San Clemente for the night.
• Day 9 : Cayambe. 4.600m m / 17,480ft Drive to hut Night at the hut

  Glacier school Cayambe is a massive glaciated extinct volcano. It is located about 68 km North East of Quito and is the highest point on the surface of the earth through which the Equator directly passes. Cayambe is the third highest mountain in Ecuador. It is characterized by good climbing opportunities and impressive glaciers. With easy access from a comfortable hut, the glaciers of Cayambe offer an outstanding venue for our glacier school. Big crevasses, complex icefalls and seracs provide the ideal setting for learning and improving ice climbing and a variety of other basic skills
• Day 10 : Cayambe Summit day. 5.790 m / 19,024ft Night at the hut

  The route to the summit follows a safe glacier terrain to the summit. A gaping bergschrund sometimes presents a challenge in route finding and an exciting extra obstacle. The ascent normally takes seven hours and the descent three hours.
• Day 11 : Cayambe spare Summit day day Night at Papallacta Hot Springs

  In case weather does not cooperate on our first summit day, we have a chance of a second attempt on Cayambe. After the climb we are transfered to Termas de Papallacta for the night www.termaspapallacta.com
• Day 13 : Visit DCF Project. Night at Hotel Reina Isabel

  After breakfast you will be taken to Pifo to the office of DCF
• Day 14 : Transfer out

  You will be transfered to the airport from the hotel
